Sure! Here’s a positive review for Nico Hibachi in Fairfield, NJ, that highlights everything a great hibachi restaurant should have:

If you’re looking for a fantastic hibachi experience in North Jersey, Nico Hibachi in Fairfield is the place to go! From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with a warm, welcoming atmosphere and excellent service. The chefs are highly skilled and put on an entertaining, interactive show that keeps both adults and kids engaged.

The food is absolutely delicious—everything is cooked to perfection right in front of you, with high-quality meats, fresh seafood, and perfectly seasoned vegetables. The fried rice is flavorful, the steak is cooked just the way you like it, and the shrimp and chicken are juicy and tender. Plus, the portions are generous, so you definitely won’t leave hungry.

The ambiance is lively, making it a great spot for celebrations, date nights, or even just a fun night out with family and friends. The staff is attentive, ensuring drinks are refilled and special requests are accommodated. The restaurant is also very clean and well-maintained, adding to the overall great experience.

If you’re looking for a top-tier hibachi spot in the area, Nico Hibachi is a must-visit. Highly recommend for anyone who loves great food, fun entertainment, and a welcoming appearance.

Not the best hibachi around but definitely not the worst. Food was pretty good and our server was really nice. My only real complaint comes from billing, and what seems like deliberately deceptive charges. The hibachi menu clearly says that it comes with white rice included. When the bill came each meal had a $2 side of white rice added on. When we questioned it, we were told that it is “the way that the billing works” and the manager would have to be asked to remove it. We did ask that it be removed, and it was, but it definitely seemed like this is a common practice so check your bill.

Typically I enjoy this place…but tonight was ridiculous. We had 6:30 reservations- we were seated at 7:15 (it’s a holiday- I get it). Our drinks took forever, and all in plastic cups. I ordered a lychee Martini no joke the tried to hand me martini in a quarter cup filled clear plastic solo cup. I asked if they were serious sending a martini over like that. I wish I took a picture to share..it was embarrassing and seriously unappetizing, just looked like cloudy drink. I sent it back and asked for it to come back appropriately in a glass. She did and said they had only one bus boy so that’s why. Yet I saw some younger girls dressed up holding their martini glasses walking around! We had to flag down our waitress for drinks. The food was ok, not cooked as good as usual, smaller meat portions. They switched the steak/filet mignon and still charged us. The put my father in laws filet mignon on my plate and my steak on his , and was like oh well, oops!
The worst part was we got our bill (and to go containers) while our chef just plated our food and we were eating (no dessert offered for purchase). Our children were still actively eating their food, and Michael (guy in a red sweater) started putting plates out saying they had other customers to seat and we were sitting 30 after we paid. Which was untrue. Before he walked over they literally just handed her the credit card back and my father in law finally got his beer refill (again plastic cup and foamy). Also he was charged for two 22oz beers but we’re given them in 16oz solo cups. Michael was extremely rude. I could see if we were chit chatting hanging around but we were still actively eating dinner. We were seated late, rushed through a sub-par holiday dinner. Honestly I would not ever return for a holiday and probably would go somewhere else going forward due to the way we are treated. The martini in a plastic solo cup really annoyed me, if I was a owner/manager I’d be really upset because presentation of your product is so important…. That was gross!

Love this place so much, but am often forgotten when sitting in the back tables. Always colder there, never checked up on, and food often comes room temp. Fried rice with the hibachi is +$3 and is almost always just white rice with soy sauce that just tastes like white rice. So sad because I love everything else but the extra charge for something that tastes like something included is crazy (plus I want fried rice, not white). Today I sent it back and they brought it to me 20 minutes later after the meal was done and asked if I wanted it to go and still charged for it. Used to be a much better place! Chicken, noodles and vegetables are great though.

We had a 7:15 reservation and were not seated until 8:45. When we were finally seated, the table had not been properly cleaned and there was little to no communication about timing or what was happening. The chef did not come out until 9:15, meaning we waited over two hours just to begin the actual meal.

Once the food finally came out, it was lackluster. The noodles were bland, the meat was just okay, and nothing stood out as worth the wait. The soup was lukewarm, the soda was flat, and the salad was basically lettuce with a single strip of carrot topped with an overly sweet, creamy ginger dressing.

To be clear, this does not feel like a chef issue. This is a staffing and operations issue. Once the chef arrived, the food came out in about five minutes. There is no reason guests should wait over two hours to be served for a meal that takes minutes to prepare.

This was a breakdown in staffing, pacing, and basic hospitality. One out of ten.

First time here and will be back. The waiters were moving fast but very attentive. The presentation was fun the kids enjoyed. The portions are very large you will have left over. The combo was chicken steak and shrimp. The yummy sauce was good. The sake was really good and fun to do. Our chef even had the kids do it with lemonade. Fried calamari and shrimp tempura was great. Everything was delicious.

Our group of 4 friends had dinner at Nikko and we had a fantastic time. The food was excellent and the price is really reasonable. We tried the cripsy duck roll, poke Nachos, beef negimake, rock shrimp and they were all good. Sushi rolls were fresh tasting and nicely presented. I had a glass of merlot and the pour was generous. I highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely return.

Love the food. Really nice atmosphere in bar, restaurant, or Hibachi room. Damien the GM is awesome. Been there quite a while. He even came over to see how everything was. It was fairly busy for a Saturday late night dinner. Thank you to our servers also at the bar area – pleasant and friendly…

I came here today on valentines. I had a reservation and yes I was late by 15 minutes. However when I called the lady said they couldn’t accommodate anything after 15 minutes. I then waited a hour and 15 minutes to be seated after we continually asked when we were gonna be seated and she kept saying “a few more minutes” I didn’t know that meant almost a hour and a half.

A few friends and I visited another friend at Kessler in West Orange. I thought let’s make it a day and have dinner afterwards. We decided on Hibachi. We found Nikko’s and made reservations for 3 at 6:30pm. We arrived on time and were asked to wait a few minutes by a polite gentleman that I believe was the host. After a few minutes he led us to our table. A woman came after a while and took our drink orders and returned to give everyone a salad and soup. They were both tasty, especially the the salad (great dressing). Our drinks were served, I had a Vodka Soda and 1 of my friends had a glass of Chardonnay (which she enjoyed), the other settled for Ginger Ale. We were chatting and enjoying each other’s company and then we noticed that we had been sitting for an hour and an itamae hadn’t come out yet. 10 minutes later he arrives (don’t skip lunch, like I did) and starts entertaining (cooking). The food was delicious. I ordered the steak and shrimp combo and my friends ordered lobster tail and shrimp combo. I gave 4 stars because we waited for so long and the person taking our drink order didn’t check to see if anyone wanted another drink.
