Reviews
There were 5 pizzas: sausage, pepperoni, cheese, pepperoni and sausage, and Supreme. Next to the pizza was 3 very hot bins which marinara, pasta, and plain fried wings. In another bin was garlic bread which was tasty but it was not kept warm.
The salad bar was essentially non edible as the bowl of iceberg lettuce was soft and wilted. There were only 6 toppings and 2 dressings available. They also did not have any of the dessert pizzas as advertised.
They only provided paper plates/bowls which didn’t really bother me other than the fact that the buffet was so small it just made the whole experience seem cheap.
Overall the food tasted good, so the experience was fine, but the variety was extremely slim with two of the advertised items either not being available or just plain inedible.
Whatever you do, avoid the manager, “Jamie,” who needs MAJOR training in what customer service means. Customers are not always right, but telling them that they are acting entitled for wanting their pizza on time, complaining about the pay and hours and not letting a customer talk to the owner, who I understood was onsite, really is unprofessional. I will not diss Massey’s but this manager has lost my business at this location.
(3 pizzas, a salad and 2 liter soda.)
Our pizza was uncooked and literally covered in cornmeal! We let Bobby know and showed her how much corn meal was covering the entire pizza! We “tried” to eat some but it wasn’t edible. We had cornmeal all over our hands from trying to wipe it off! We had used all the napkins and it was all over the table. It was just gross. It’s like eating a big ball of cornmeal. We asked to speak to the manager Andrea and she didn’t even bother to come to the table and check on us, apologize or anything just said she’d give us 50% off the pizza and she sent the new server out to do it. Very poor customer service on the manager Andreas part! We weren’t even worth her time to come out to the table and they were not busy!
We will not ever be back!
Today, I reviewed the low ratings that they have received in recent days and I saw that the common factor was the same issue that I had, which was/is their Bartender. I do not know her name, but, I think it must be the same one that everyone else in the one-star reviews is referring to as being “awful.” Could only be her.
Probably every pizza place, can have a bad day, or put out a bad pizza once in a while, I understand that and I can accept that, but in my case, I walked into the GC Massey’s Pizza Sports Bar with a very burnt carryout pizza, in its box, specifically to show them how badly the pizza that we had ordered for carryout was, and that we had not realized it until we got it home and that I wanted a refund.
When she did finally come over, walking towards me from behind the bar, there was no “hi” or “hello,” only “what do you need?” and I said “I’d like to show you this pizza, if I could” and she promptly told me in a very snide manner that she wasn’t taking that back, and something about the health department, and when I asked her again if I could just show it to her she said “No.” Now I was beginning to get a little stunned already over her lack of general respect, interest in my issue, and basic manners.
Professionalism? None. I immediately prepared myself not to even expect that from her based on her initial apathy and lack of manners towards me. But, we are in Grove City, and everyone is basically polite and understanding, but this woman does not belong in the hospitality business at all and she is the reason why my family, residents of GC for more that 30 years and regular customers of Massey’s will never go back to that location.
I have encountered customer service people in the past who are maybe rough around the edges, or, they aren’t empowered to act on issues, or, maybe they are just tired or grumpy and a little insensitive, but this woman is in a league all on her own. Her demeanor and behavior towards me, for goodness sake, made me wonder at the time of my interaction with her, what kind of an upbringing she had had to make her so extremely unkind, sarcastic and even a little sadistic, because she obviously enjoyed denying me even the opportunity to show her the burnt pizza which came from her own place of employment. She spoke over me, taunted me, would not let me explain – anything, and was unwilling to make anything right for me as a customer. I am a 60-year old, female professional, with a family, and a business of my own, and I am today letting the person or persons reading this that I have never been treated by someone in a business position the way she treated me.
She was awful, dismissive and rude. Thankfully, a much younger, much more professional and obviously better-educated woman who had been busy trying to manage or fix one of their machines walked over, asked us what the issue was, asked if she could see the pizza (appropriate and what any normal manager would and should do) and agreed that it was not as their pizzas should be. She took my number (appropriate) and said she would have her manager call me about issuing a credit, which he did call me.
I don’t know that I expressed to him enough how awful the experience was and I don’t feel that he was affected by what I did tell him about the experience. He actually advised me to call their corporate offices about my refund because he did not have the ability to do it – and the option to just have another pizza made?
No. I will not give any more business to a place that puts someone like that in charge of customers and I would like people to know about it, which is why I am writing this long review today. There are so many great pizza choices in GC and qualified, pleasant, and nice people to order them from.
