We made reservations at City House after hearing so much hype about it’s long standing presence in Nashville as a culinary staple. We came around 8pm after a live show and were interested in sharing some small plates and a few drinks. The dining room was still buzzing and busy and had a great energy by the time we arrived.
Our server made a few recommendations, so we followed his guidance. Both the pizzas we tried were great, but the Sliced Tomato with cheesy mayo was so fresh and delicious. We also had the Bologna with tomato, potato, salt mayo, and basil per our server’s recommendation – it was a little heavy for my taste and I wished I had tried some of the more vegetable heavy dishes at the top of the menu, but it was still strangely delicious and we enjoyed every salty, fatty bite.
The service and atmosphere was great – everyone was very friendly and accommodating. The cocktails we had were also great. Overall, we were pleased with our trip to City House and would be happy to return if we’re ever in Nashville again in the near future.

This restaurant is exactly what you expect, everything tastes so fresh and house made. The lasagna was out of this world and we had an app that had radicchio and a cheese crust omg, Abby was our server and she was super profesional and friendly.

Such a lovely atmosphere with very kind service! I think I would be able to rate 5/5 on food if I ordered something else, but my gnocchi dish tasted mostly like very salty chicken broth. Still 11 seems like a lovely place to take a date for pizza.

Overall a pretty solid staple in Nashville, I do recommend. Overall the food is pretty good, decent choices on the menu and good customer service. A very busy place though, so do expect a wait if you don’t make reservations and it may take a little while for your server to make it around. Overall worth checking out if you haven’t been here before.

I enjoy the food, but it’s not a 5 ⭐️ home run for me. The pork belly pizza was the best entree for our group and I enjoyed the desserts much more than the savory options. Good cocktail offerings and extensive wine menu.

Absolutely splendid food and service! At first the menu seemed like some pretentious parings that may be trying too hard – but I have never been so happy to be wrong. Everything from the kale salad, scrapple and sour cornbread starters to the belly ham pizza, crespelle, and sausage and apple pizza was amazing! The sweet potato ice box cake to finish off the night was mind blowing. I should have ordered a second serving. Everything was a spectacular surprise! Highly highly recommend.
My only (very minor) suggestion would be some pillows for the backing on the stone wall booths. Otherwise the atmosphere was a nice elevated casual experience.

This place has a good-looking, ever-changing menu of Italian dishes; pizzas and pastas are the majority (extensive drink menu, too). I sat at the pizza counter overlooking the kitchen, which was cool. Overall, the place has a classy vibe, fit for any occasion, but you can still get away with casual looks. Service was great, and explanations/input from my server were rock solid. For food: the octopus had a nice, crunchy exterior and flavors/textures were on point for that dish. The trout entree was sweet, rich, earthy/herby, and had an explosion of flavor. The fish was cooked perfectly..10/10 dish! They have an enticing dessert menu; I barely had room, but the sorbet sundae (DF coconut base) had great textures and some delicious bourbon-soaked cherries — you have room for it, even if you think you don’t! Overall, the value here is sky-high, and I’d be excited to come back any day!

If you’re looking for a different dining experience, this is it. GM Sal Avila offers a short menu of salads, pizzas and entrees, most of which we never heard of, but the Zephyr Squash was excellent, light, flavorful, with just the right amount of textures and base. The James Beard award winning Belly ham, Mozzarella pizza is also excellent! Try it with the farm egg on top! The service at the bar, even at peak hours was good to excellent, for both food and wine suggestions. The wine list is long and from the continent. The ambiance is casual; this is not fine dining, it’s great food!
