We started with the taquitos de papas – delish. Very generous portion too – awesome. We also had a margarita. I ordered the Elvira’s one and it was smooth and exquisite. I would have loved to have ordered several honestly but I used restraint. It was really good though. Probably one of the best ones I’ve ever had and a good Marg is my typical cocktail order. I ordered the Filet Sosa medium. Perfection. Sooooo good. My husband ordered the Mole Rojo and enjoyed it. We both agreed though that my dish was the standout here. Our Server was great. Friendly and helpful and even though he was very busy, we never had to wait on him for anything! It was my birthday weekend and we ordered their flourless chocolate cake. Being gluten free for over ten years, I’ve had a lot of flourless cakes in my day. This one was a cut above the rest. SO tasty. It came with a hazelnut gelato and the Server made sure it came with a candle – thoughtful and appreciated! We had an absolutely wonderful meal here and hope to be able to make it here again while we are in AZ. Thank you for a great experience!
Very unique restaurant and great staff. Will go again for sure.
Elvira’s is visually stunning. From the moment you walk in, the décor captivates—vibrant, eclectic, and immersive. Every seat offers a unique aesthetic, and the atmosphere promises something special. Unfortunately, that promise wasn’t fulfilled beyond the visuals.
Service was the Achilles’ heel of our visit. The hostess greeted us with a noticeably cold demeanor—perhaps just an off day, but it set the tone. We were told to expect a 15–20 minute wait despite the restaurant being only moderately busy with several open tables. An hour later, we were finally seated.
Once at the table, it took another 30 minutes before a server arrived—just to offer water. Another 15 minutes passed before we could order drinks and a single appetizer. Hoping to keep things simple, we added one dessert. Even with the restaurant nearly empty by then, everything took far too long to arrive.
The appetizer was forgettable, the drinks poorly executed, and the only highlight was the lava cake with ice cream—clearly pre-made, but enjoyable nonetheless. Even the check took an excessive amount of time to process.
Elvira’s has the potential to be a standout destination, but the disconnect between ambiance and execution is hard to ignore. Until the service and kitchen operations match the beauty of the space, I can’t recommend it.
Their specialty is mole, and it doesn’t disappoint. If it’s your first time there, I highly recommend it.
The ambiance and decor really clinch this as a must-do in Tubac.
That one dish was very good and I think it tipped the scale at $48 before tip. The drinks were $20-25 per drink. Other than the off menu item, the rest while good, I don’t think it justified the price.
Staff was busy and I had to leave to find our waiter a couple of times but it was good enough.
The ceiling has thousands of tear drop shaped glass pendants.
It is so unique!
Their food revolves around seafood and traditional / unusual Mexican mole sauces with chicken.
Our dinners were so wonderful and flavorful.
The flour less chocolate cake was full of intense chocolate flavor and was complimented by hazelnut gelato.
