I had a wonderful dining experience at Darbar Grill. From start to finish, everything about the meal stood out — the presentation, the taste, and the warm hospitality. The restaurant has a cozy and elegant atmosphere, perfect for enjoying authentic Indian food in a relaxed setting.
I ordered their bento-style thali, and it was beautifully presented. Each section of the box had something special — fragrant basmati rice with peas, creamy dal, flavorful paneer curry, and perfectly cooked meat curry that was rich and aromatic. The little pakoda added a nice texture and spice contrast, while the mango dessert was the perfect sweet finish. It’s rare to see such careful presentation in Indian food, and this was done with real attention to detail.
The naan was soft and warm, ideal for scooping up the curries, and the chai was smooth and comforting — exactly how it should be. So was the samosa. Every dish felt freshly made and balanced, not too heavy, and full of authentic flavor.
Service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive, and the staff made sure everything arrived promptly.
Overall, Darbar Grill delivers excellent food, a refined presentation, and a welcoming environment. A great spot in Midtown for anyone who loves flavorful, well-prepared Indian cuisine.

Darbar is a gem in Midtown Manhattan. Ive been coming here for years now. Serving up authentic Indian fare Darbar is a one of a kind dining experience. Very cozy & Manhattan-esque ambiance. The food here is some of the best I’ve ever had.
Naan are nice & pillowy, palak paneer was savory with fresh paneer cubes mixed in. Uncle Mike is a sweetheart. I love their glass ceiling & overall ambiance. Really gets you in the mood for a good dinner. The staff is super attentive & helpful. If you’re in Manhattan come give Darbar a visit.

Darbar Grill truly impressed us with its delicious food and warm hospitality. They offer a variety of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes, all packed with authentic flavor. We were pleasantly surprised with complimentary kheer at the end of our meal—a sweet and thoughtful touch. They were also incredibly kind to our toddler, even giving them a balloon, which made the visit extra special

One of my favorite restaurants and Indian restaurant at that, is Darbar. Between Das, Manny and Hasan, they have always made me feel welcome, like family. They have even customized their Butter Chicken Sauce for me, due to my low spice tolerance. But their Mango Lassi drinks are my absolute favorite. I literally overdose on them.
Unfortunately this month they are closing their doors at the end of December. They are looking for a neighborhood place but like all of these property owners, they have gone up on commercial rent and forcing good, small merchants out of their spaces they have operated for decades.
So, if you read this before the month is done, they have a wonderful buffet almost everyday. Come get some and celebrate them. A true jewel of midtown Manhattan, that needs to be kept.
Even Governor Kathy Hochul was there 2 weeks ago. Ask them to show you the picture.

Hands down the best Indian lunch buffet in Midtown. Darbar Grill’s $17.95 Lunch Special Platters (Dine in Only) are amazing. My favorite one is the vegetarian platter served with two vegetables with Dal, Basmati Rice, Naan, Appetizer & Dessert. Everything tastes homemade, spices are bold but balanced, and the quality never drops even when it’s packed. The staff is super friendly and keeping everything clean. When I’m working from the office, I come here at least once a week and it’s consistently incredible. If you love Indian food, this buffet is a must.

Great restaurant! Excellent service and authentic Indian Cuisine. Everything was delicious. So unique and full of flavor. So many different options on the menu. The atmosphere was nice and quiet easy to talk to friends and family at the table. Love this place. Deserts were great too especially the Gulab jamun. If your looking for an ethnic Indian food experience go to Darbar Grill! I HIGHLY recommend it.

Had a lovely dinner here last night on Christmas Eve . Great ambiance and friendly staff . We started off with a couple of cocktails, my friend had the Karma cocktail and liked it so much he got a 2nd one . I thought the Passion Fruit Margarita didn’t have enough fruit flavor but the glass of Cabernet wine was very nice for a Winter night. For appetizer we got the Bhajia onion fritters which were delicious and hot and fresh , get those . The shrimp Balchao was spicy but ok. For mains my friend got the Lamb Curry and he enjoyed that , also they give you one plate of Basmati rice to share but they did offer to bring extra rice if you want it . I got their House Specialty of Beetroot Malai Kofta and the sauce was so tasty ! I ended up dipping the fresh Naan in it . Delicious. The beets are in a meatball shape and have an unusual texture but it’s worth getting in my opinion because it’s unusual to see this dish on a menu ,so give it a try . Also they have Rosemary Naan , another unusual menu item that was really good. Definitely try the Gatlic Naan too. We ordered a dessert of Kulfi ice cream but they also brought out their Rice Pudding Kheer on the house , which was a great touch . Staff are all nice . If you are on 55th Street or in the area you should stop in here, it’s a good restaurant . The inside is relaxing and nice. Bathrooms are on 2nd floor .

What a fantastic find! Darbar Grill serves delicious, original Indian food that truly stands out. From the moment we walked in, the ambiance felt modern yet warm — perfect for a dinner out. The menu is full of authentic dishes made with fresh ingredients and bold flavours.
Started with mulligatawny soup; wonderful! We tried the tandoori lamb chops and tandoori chicken — both were moist, flavorful and cooked to perfection. The naan bread stole the show: fragrant, soft with a perfect char, and I’ve been dreaming about it ever since! Our eggplant dish was also terrific. The service was attentive and friendly, and the whole experience left a lasting impression.
If you’re looking for top-notch Indian cuisine in Midtown NYC, this is the place. Highly recommended — can’t wait to go back!
