Food didn’t arrive until an hour and a half after ordering!! Party of 2. Ordered a sandwich and a grain bowl. I’d expect that wait at a busy 4 star Michelin restaurant in New York. This place is advertised as gastropub food, which is intended and designed to be quick food to make. My inclination is that they wanted us to wait there as long as possible to keep ordering more drinks. It took so long I thought the chef had quit mid shift.
Food: underwhelming and average. Nothing you couldn’t make at home with minimal effort. Tasted greasy. Even if it was good, I couldn’t have appreciated it because the wait was SO long I was starving and dizzy from low blood sugar by the time it arrived. Unacceptable.
Will not go back and would not recommend. I’d only recommend in the event you’re practicing intermittent fasting or on an intense diet.

My nephew and I came in for a quick meal on Friday, January 2, 2026 and everything was excellent. Our meals were absolutely delicious, full of flavor, and clearly made with fresh, quality ingredients. The food came out fast and hot, and the portions were very generous for the price. They have some very unique options on the menu, which is great! The bartender lady who served us was extremely personable, friendly, and attentive: she really went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience and deserves special recognition.
I can see why so many locals rave about this place. The menu has a great variety with creative gastropub options, and it’s obvious the kitchen takes pride in what they do. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, with a nice selection of craft beers and drinks to go along with the food. From the service to the quality to the overall vibe, everything exceeded our expectations.
Ryan’s On York is truly a hidden gem in Manitowoc, and I’ll definitely be coming back again soon. Highly recommended!

Excellent choices and unique delicious creations. Katsu sandwich, crab meat Rangoon tacos, and Smokey fries off the monthly special. Nice to have an alternative to burgers, fries and curds that are everywhere.

In Manitowoc for the maritime museum, and this place was close by. The menu looked unique and had good reviews. We got the Caribbean Burger, Katsu Melt and shared the RoY Fries. Everything tasted great and the portions were perfect for the price! I even took half my sandwich home (it was great in the air fryer). The only downside was that they got busy towards the end of our meal. It was sometime since they checked in on us, so we decided to go up to the bar to pay/ask for a to-go box. Prior to that they were very attentive (bartender and busboy). Can’t help a busy day! I’m happy to see thriving businesses. We absolutely want to come back when we go to the art museum to try some of their bowls (San Fran Noodles in particular). Yum!

We used to go to Ryan’s a ton when they had the old menu- it was one of our favorite places! The food is still very good and the beer selection is huge, but the service has declined greatly. We went last week on a Thursday night so it was busy but not terribly packed. We sat at a table and nobody even acknowledged us for at least 20 minutes. When our food was ready, a kid brought it to our table and practically threw it down, then left without saying a word. Our waitress didn’t check on us at all and we had to go to the bar to get our bill where I stood for another length of time trying to get her attention. Again, the food is good but the service was awful. Unfortunately that will probably keep us from returning again.

This is one of the few local restaurants that clearly offers vegetarian and vegan options on their menu. The staff are always very friendly and accommodating with our requests. We don’t drink alcohol but they offer plenty of other options including cocktails and fresh fruit infused water. They cook their tofu to perfection and has great flavor. The veggie patty is made in house and delicious. Highly recommend trying them out.

Stopped on our way through town! Had a super kind bartender welcome us right away when we sat down at the bar. She made us feel at home! The interior is unassuming in here, but the food is not. Absolutely delicious meal. Such a unique menu with something for everyone to enjoy. They make it very hard to choose.
We will be dreaming about this food for a while and will definitely be popping back up from Milwaukee just to eat here! Thanks for making my flavor dreams come true with your awesome and unique food menu and cocktail list!

We were seated at a table with menus. We watched the bartender/waitress take orders from 4 tables that all came in after us. When I attempted to hail her down she ignored me. Then started giving menus out to other people that just arrived. At that point I informed her that we were just going to leave. She said she would be over there to us in a minute and I said, “too late”.

Awesome staff — let’s start there! They were very knowledgeable about veganism even warning me about their wheat noodles which have egg whites (they subbed San Fran noodles -DELICIOUS). They were very friendly and very attentive; I appreciate it!
The fries I ordered, to eat there while I waited for my food, were hand cut, crispy and a great starter.
I ordered the spicy noodles to go. The noodles were so good, the tofu was cooked just right — the only issue was the dish was too spicy, like beyond edible – I still ate it because those noodles and tofu were on point. I think an addition of teriyaki bowl is in order – wink, wink*
The tofu upcharge for $5 is pretty expensive.
I will DEFINITELY be back to try some other choices they offer.
