My date had booked a reservation for this place for Valentine’s Day at 7:45pm. When we arrived, we were told to wait 20 minutes. There were many open tables inside and outside, however they chose to give us the worst table, with our server admitting the spot was not ideal. We both sat at the corners of it and it was an awkward position. Although the online reservation stated the Valentines menu was optional, our waiter said it was required. After ordering, we waited for one hour before our entreés arrived with only one check in from our waiter in between. The oysters did not taste fresh and the escargot was over salted. We then waited another 20 minutes for our main course; the medium rare steak that we ordered was too raw with the green beans being over cooked. The scallops were alright, but for the price, it was not worth it. Dessert was unsatisfactory, as it was overly sweet. When we confronted the waiter, he said he would tell his manager who offered us a discount. His name was Rod, and he had claimed that he could not offer a large discount / compensation because the workers need to be paid but that is not how restaurants operate. He may have thought that because I am young, that I would believe him. In addition, he offered compensation for the next meal, but the experience was too unpleasant therefore I declined. The food was not worth the price, and the service was not up to par. I had high expectations for the place, especially since it seemed to be popular for Valentine’s Day, but I was extremely let down.

Nice menu selections, the escargot was good. The onion soup has decent flavor but the cheese is not the right kind, a lot of onion but not enough soup, it was missing the bread/crouton. The beef bourguignon and trout almandine were good. Beef tartare was not as flavorful. You can’t go wrong with creme brûlée and they have Calvados! A popular after dinner drink in France! Food service and friendly staff. We went early on Friday so we got a nice booth, it got busy after 6:30 pm.

We had a family birthday dinner at Left Bank Menlo Park, the food selections were good, as I preferred seafood and my family liked duck and beef. It was just after all the holidays, the restaurant was not very busy, so we had only three tables to ourselves, very private

Hit the Spot! It started raining and kids and I were stranded and hungry. Would have never expected a fancy restaurant like this to be open at 4pm…but it was. Everything was super perfect and efficient – service, food, atmosphere. It was an odd hour for us to go so the place was empty but we were so grateful. Definitely a great find!!!

Left Bank – Menlo Park is one of those local gems you almost stumble into by accident — and then wonder how you hadn’t been sooner.
We walked in after passing the Walgreens nearby (where the after-school Menlo Park teen energy can get a little… lively). Stepping into Left Bank felt like crossing into a completely different atmosphere. Calm, refined, and welcoming.
They offer outdoor seating at the bar and a more intimate back dining area. My partner and I chose the back room and, for a while, had the entire space to ourselves before a few more patrons joined later in the evening. The ambiance was impeccable. The large statement painting on the wall immediately catches your eye — bold yet thoughtfully integrated into the space. It adds a modern touch without feeling pretentious.
I’ll admit, restaurants with this level of polish can sometimes feel intimidating or overly formal. But Left Bank strikes a balance. The setting feels elevated yet comfortable.
We split the steak frites and an order of calamari. The calamari was lightly battered, thin, crisp, and served with fresh lemon — simple, flavorful, and well-executed. Lightly salted and satisfying. The steak frites delivered exactly what you want: classic, reliable, and done right.
After our meal, a kind gentleman stopped by to ask how everything was. It was such a warm and genuine interaction that we later learned he was Pablo, the owner, who has been serving patrons for over 20 years. What stood out most was how grounded he was. No grand gestures or “owner presence” theatrics — just someone working alongside his team, clearly passionate about hospitality. In a brief conversation, you could feel his dedication and the loyalty he’s built among both locals and visitors.
Left Bank doesn’t just serve food — it creates space for connection. And maybe that’s what great dining is supposed to do: carry the conversation beyond the meal and bring people together.
If you’re looking for a warm, refined, and genuinely welcoming restaurant in Menlo Park, Left Bank is absolutely worth the visit.

Came for my birthday it was a Great please for brunch with the family, it really feels like a restaurant in france, all food was delicious BUT the tuna tartare was really bland, we ordered 2 and both were missing a lot of love in it but everything else was good, drinks were well prepared

Very disappointing experience, especially for what was supposed to be a special Valentine’s Day dinner.
Our waiter told us the beef tenderloin was running out and that we would not be able to order it, leaving us to choose another main (essentially just the duck). However, a table seated after us was still able to order the beef tenderloin. This inconsistency felt unfair and poorly handled.
We brought this to the manager’s attention, but the only resolution offered was to waive our beverages, which did not feel proportional to the issue or the overall experience.
The situation became even more uncomfortable when we paid the bill. The waiter brought the payment machine and stood over us watching while we selected the tip, which felt pressuring and inappropriate. Meanwhile, other tables appeared to be allowed to leave their tip on the table without that kind of scrutiny.
Overall, the service felt inconsistent and unprofessional, and it left a negative impression on an evening that should have been enjoyable. I hope the restaurant improves its service standards and treats guests more consistently in the future.

I had a delightful lunch at Left Bank in Menlo Park. The food was delicious, with authentic French flavors that truly impressed. The Left Bank Menlo Park is a nice restaurant visit if you’re looking for decent French fare in a casual atmosphere. I’ll be honest – the food and service at this location can be inconsistent. Some nights the service and food are absolutely on point and other nights the service can be a bit slow (even on nights that are not all that busy) and the food a bit overseasoned. HOWEVER, more often than not, the service and food is pretty good and I’ve never experienced either bad enough to want to not go back. It’s just a pleasant “casual night out” type of restaurant that satisfies our craving for French cuisine without breaking the budget.

If Google had a 3.5 star option I’d have gone for that, so I’m being a bit harsh with 3. Keep in mind that this a pricey fine dining place. So I expected the food and presentation to blow me away. While their Beef Bourguignon tasted great, I just expected more for the price we were paying. That said, the service and the drinks were great. It’s a decent option if you are in the mood for some French fine dining.
