Basic, Local, Southern, down home cooking, comfort food in a quirky old truck stop. . . DELIGHTFUL warm yeasty rolls with soft whipped butter, lovely sweet potato, standard mushy peach cobbler. The ribs were oddly smoke flavored, but NOT accordingly “fall off the bone tender” as advertised, fries were cold and the “boneless chicken wings” are the same, overbreaded frozen kind everyone else down here seems to sell. If you are from the rural south then mushy veggies, mac and cheese and dried out chicken-fried anything might make you nostalgic.
*HOWEVER, I had an EXCELLENT “grilled” (BOILED? STEAMED?) Shrimp Po Boy with the freshest tasting, most perfectly cooked, tender butterflied shrimp I’ve ever eaten. The soft sandwich roll was nicely toasted, included generous fresh lettuce and cubed tomato (would be much better sliced thinly for flavor and texture) all topped with a drizzle of the perfect “special sauce.”
We would certainly come back here if we happen this way again, just because I suspect they have other unexpected seafood and steak “Stars” in the menu and because everyone in there from staff to customers seemed like nice, regular, local folks… and the coffee was good.

I got my order to go and ate within 15-20 min so i have no comment on temperatures. I’ll start with the good: Staff was friendly and service was quick. The burger and tots both we’re really good. Great flavor and cook on the burger. The not so good: the catfish was fried with the skin on, making the batter not stick well and it was a bit to much on the earthy side of flavor profile even for cat fish. Mac n Cheeses tasted like it was stright from a box, plastic like texture and bland. Potato salad was mid grade, a bit to heavy on the celery seed. All in all not bad. Would go back for the burgers for sure.

Went in for breakfast and boy am I glad I did! Some of the best home style cooking I’ve had! The biscuits and gravy are my favorite… Absolutely amazing! Big fluffy biscuits, gravy made just right. Overall all the food was great and the portion sizes are large and the prices were great! The staff were all warm and friendly and very professional and good at what they do. I definitely recommend anyone passing by the area to stop in and try some real home cooked breakfast!

Stumbled into this place while trucking thru town. Guy at truckstop up the road recommended it. Chose the AYCE shrimp special. Ordered stewed tomatoes and okra as a side. Also collard greens. Gotta eat like you’re in the South, when you’re in the South. First shrimp were blackened. Second order were fried. Loved them both times. Made to order not out of some ready mix bag. Same with the sides. Loved it. Thank you!!

Just Wow! I had the Beef Tips that reminded me of Roast Beef at its best! The sides were all just as good and the prices was spot on…lunch special …a main course and 3 sides $12.95!

Absolutely wonderful waitresses here! We had an unfortunate accident this evening when my granddaughter had spilled a large glass of water. The waitress helped us get everything cleaned up and moved us to another table with grace and kindness. I really appreciated that! Food was delicious too! I had the blackened shrimp and they were cooked to perfection.

Bett’s Big T Restaurant was an interesting place for a meal. We visited in May 2025. It’s easy to miss the entrance because it’s before the actual building and sign for the building. But not drastically so. We missed it and just took the second entrance past Big T. It is set up like an old truck stop and from what I understand, that is exactly what it is. I was told it was a very popular truck stop back in the days when the road was far less traveled along there.
The building itself shows signs of its age and history, yet is still inviting to folks as a good place to stop and enjoy a good meal. There are some quirky things like a one stall unisex style bathroom in the back room. But that is only the toilet section. The sink and such is outside the restroom itself. Like I said, quirky. Then they have this row of three antique phone booths in the back room. There are no phones in the booths, but these three old wooded booths look to be in great shape. It gave the place a little more character.
The front room has mostly tables and such. But the back room was mostly booth tables. We were seated in the back room. As such, we sat in a booth. The food itself seemed decent. My meal was good. But it’s also fair to say that it was not absolutely the best meal that I’ve ever had. But it was pretty good and by far was not the worst. But let me be clear, we did enjoy our meal. So my comment was by no means meant to be a shot, or derogatory in any way. The food was good. But to be fair, it is also not 5 star cuisine. Just a good meal without all the fanciness .
We found the prices to also be reasonable. Obviously that depends on different peoples outlooks or opinions. But we found our meal to be reasonably priced for the meal we enjoyed. Our server did a great job and made us feel welcome. So all in all, I could see us stopping in to Bett’s Big T again. It’s not a fancy place. Nope it’s just an old truck stop with character, that happens to serve a good meal at a fair price. That works for me.

We tried the smoked rib special and it was incredible—every bite was savory and hit the spot! The portions were very generous, especially the huge side of gravy they included. For sides, we loved the mashed potatoes, collard greens, green beans, and lima beans. Everything was seasoned perfectly. To top it off, the service was exceptional. The food was great felt like I was eating grandma’s home cooked meals every time I eat here. While pulling into the parking lot I thought the place was closed and almost drove by. The owners might want to think about some more signage or lights on the building to show that you are open since the windows are blacked out. Other than that my experience was great

Awesome food, atmosphere, and service! Large portions at a very affordable price. Large selection of homestyle meals! I had the country fried steak, and if you leave hungry thats your fault. Absolutely recommend and we’ll definitely return!
