I’ve visited this location a few times and the food has been terrible. And the prices are incredibly high for what it is. I went back recently because some local Alamo heights folks complained to me that the prices were higher here than other locations because it’s Alamo Heights. If so, that is a big issue for us. Although not illegal, AH folks are tired of local businesses charging more simply because it’s AH. Furthermore, the quality of the food seems sub par. Especially the fajita. There is something peculiar about the seasoning and it’s tougher than other places I’ve visited. The carne asada meat also looks irregular. I can’t figure out what it is but I’ll be visiting again to get some different opinions on it.

It’d be great to have a decent taco spot in 09 that isn’t a higher end like Sol Luna or Paloma Blanca. I’d hoped las Palapas would offer that but time and time again it doesn’t deliver.

Service was nice. Place wasn’t busy during weekday lunch hour.

So we have driven by Las Palapas dozens of times and never stopped, but today was the day to come in for breakfast. Our grandson is a bean and cheese taco expert, he knows what good tortillas taste like and when he gobbled down 2 bean and cheese tacos, a bacon strip, and an extra tortilla in a matter of minutes it’s a good meal. I had the spicy sausage Ranchero Taco and the Machicado taco, they were delicious. You can tell a quality Mexican food restaurant by simple things, tortillas, rice, beans the quality of the meat the use. The sausage used was quality sausage, not a large winnie or a sausage with fillers. The machicaco taco had fajita meat. It was a great breakfast and I can wait to go back to this location or try Las Palapas somewhere else in town. Plus they serve coffe in real mugs! Mugs just like home, by the way coffee taste great.

It’s definitely one of the best go-to spots. I look forward to our meet-ups here. The margaritas are flowing, and the food is great. It’s a normal hangout spot with friends for sure.

I love thier Beef Taco Nortenos. Its what I always get. This visit the beef was was not only cold but it was also chewy and there wasn’t even a teaspoon of beans on my taco. I asked a manager if he could send over my waitress and instead of asking if he could help me he said OK but then proceeded to answer the phone for a phone order. I saw a 2nd manager come out and stand right next to him. I then explained that he hadn’t helped at all and told her that I would like a freshly made taco with fresh meat and with beans which she did. It was perfect, but then when I went to cash out he didnt offer me a discount which I commented on by saying “I thought I be given a discount for my inconvenience of having to wait for my lunch while my wife completed hers. It was the that he said he’d be happy to and gave me a whole $2.50 off. Im really questioning if I will choose this location again.

6/18 always good, but this morning, they forgot guacamole and gave me medium ice water when I asked for a large.

7/30 tried the stuffed alvocado. Everything tasted great. The name made me laugh, though, because it’s more of a dry soup salad with an alvocado underneath.

11/28/23 can’t stay away from that Ranch Taco
While there, I randomly tried the Chorizo and Bean taco. Interesting choice to serve. Haha, it reminds me of something I’d be with the family at home as a kid.

4/4 really disappointed in the chicken soup bowl. It’s a small bowl. It tasted good but there wasn’t much of anything in it. That wasn’t worth $8.

Fast service and I am new to finding this chain which I am sorry for the wasted time it has not been in my life very good Mexican food always a friendly smile with amazing service no matter which branch I go to and drive thru and serves Big Red is a hands down favorite that I will be going to weekly if not more for the foreseeable future this rivals some of the best Mexican food I have ever ate and I grew up along the border not far from Del Rio so I have been crossing the border eating food in Mexico for 30 years now it is nice to have good quality like that with easy access

They have so many great dishes, my favorite is stuffed avocado you can choose from chicken , beef or shrimp mmm flavorful. Great lunch specials & happy hour. Tasty Margaritas.
This location is unique to all the rest, it has a garage style Bar so you can enjoy your drinks indoor or outdoor, colorful lights and heaters are in their patio.
Service is spot on, staff is friendly, plenty of parking, safety measures, handicap accessibility.

Good it’s ok fast food Mexican but the customer service sucks !!! The drive threw ladies are always so stuck up and snobby like as if there better then you it gets annoying like girl you work at a las palapas taking food orders ‍♀️ no manners what so ever. Chips are always bottom of the barrel just crumbs there’s plenty of Mexican food places up and down Austin hwy I’d advise to go try those places food better and the service is always so welcoming and humble.
