Upon visiting the North Bend WA. establishment, I was appalled by its cleanliness–or lack thereof. After ordering my sandwich, I hesitated to take a bite, fearing the consequences. Surprisingly I didn’t fall ill.
The pictures I shared don’t fully capture the filthiness of the place. Empty sauce dispensers and discarded containers cluttered the counter, likely due to frustrated customers. It’s regrettable because I genuinely enjoy Arby’s, but I won’t be returning.
This is unfortunate because I love Arby’s sandwiches and this is a convenient location.
After posting this review I noticed other reviews going back 9 years with similar posts. Wow, I am surprised they are still in business.
I was astonished by the owner’s response, which demonstrated a complete unawareness of the sanitation problem. A quick review of customer feedback reveals that this restaurant has been plagued by a serious, chronic hygiene issue for over five years. This pattern of disregard for public health, especially given the historical record in the reviews, is unacceptable.
It’s a sad mindset to think that customers would leave a mess on the counters out of frustration. No, They do so out of lack of consideration for service workers and/or other people in general. They do so out of some entitlement complex. I’ve never once been frustrated with someone working a customer service job and thought “hey, i know what will make me less frustrated., I’ll make their day even harder by making a big mess and then not clean up after myself and expect them to do so”. Nope, not once has this been my go-to solution to my frustration. They (the employees) are there to help you get food when you are there. Whether there while traveling; too lazy to cook; or countless other reasons we eat out, the result is the same. This isn’t a full service diner with a tipped employee taking your order. This is fast food and unless you tipped them very well to do so, clean up your own mess! Their job has lower pay than many other less stressful jobs, that many people couldn’t handle. I doubt that listening to or cleaning up after jerks was anywhere in their job description.
As for my review.. Food was served hot, looked great and was served within a reasonable time frame. Employees were busy, but courteous and they had my food ready on time efficiently. My only complaint is that I was having issues ordering online. So not this particular Arby’s
Empathy goes a lot farther than taking out your frustration on your customer service assistant by making a mess. I wish high schools would all have students work for at least a month at a fast food restaurant, gas station etc. Perhaps it would change the perception and attitude some have about it.
We ordered early on the app and still had to wait 45 mins to get our food (over an hour wait total), and then our curly fries were overcooked and my French dip was on the cold side.
Their excuse was that the next round of roast beef wasn’t finished cooking yet, and it was 2:00pm on a slow Saturday afternoon.
I enjoy Arby’s, but not this one…
