Couldn’t say worse things about this place if I tried. I have tried to call 4 times in the last 3 days and no response or answer. My family decided to go here for my birthday celebration and we thought it would be amazing. I have been a Rochester resident since I was a child, and have visited this place a few times. Never once have I experienced this crap of service, food quality, and atmosphere. My family was seated at a round table with people constantly rushing by us, making it impossible to hear across the table. Then, we wait about 25 minutes for our waiter, Tyrone, to help us. He asked us for our drink order and we tried to place apps as well, but that was too much to take on at once so he needed to come back. We went another 20/25 minutes without our drinks or placing an order. When we finally got them, he took our app order, and then needed to come back for entrees but we were more than ready to do that seeing as we’ve been there for about an hour already. Both of the people who drove in our party had to go refill the meters out back because we anticipated 2 hours and it was not looking like we would be correct. WHEN WE RECEIVED OUR FOOD AN HOUR LATER…. It was CHARRED or Raw. NONE of our temps were correct, the presentation was atrocious, and never once did our server come back so we could let them know. Actually…. They did know because they brought it out to us like that. Every time they brought food over, there was an issue that they didn’t correct. The waiter didn’t even bring the check in a timely manner. Don’t worry, the server was still compensated for his horrible service, but WOW did that not make any of us want to come support a Downtown Rochester Business. Next time we will just take ourselves down the Morton’s in Troy because at least they can cook a steak and check on their tables!

Came here for Sweetest Day and my girlfriend and I had a fantastic experience. Jonathan (Jon) was our server and he did an amazing job and was very hard working and made perfect recommendations off of the menu. We even saw him inspecting dishes and wiping the rim of a dish off at another table so that it had perfect presentation before it was served to the customer. A truly fine dining experience and a place that goes the extra mile for the customers. We loved the butter and the black sea salt for the bread, the filet was perfectly prepared “Pittsburgh Style” which is a lost art at many steakhouses, the frog legs were to die for, and the fries that were served with them were like the best McDonald’s fries you’ve ever had and then elevated to the next level. My girlfriend had the seafood Ravioli which she said was stuffed with lobster and loved it. We finished the night off with an awesome monster sized hot fudge cream puff and I had the best Brown Sugar Old Fashioned ever served and my girlfriend had a very tasty cucumber martini. Ryan also popped in at our table a few times and was truly a pleasure to speak with. You can tell that he truly cares about the restaurant, his customers, and his coworkers. This was our first time at the Rochester Chop House and we will 100% be back very soon for another memorable evening. 5 stars and 2 big thumbs up!

We’ve given Rochester Chop House & Bar two chances, and unfortunately, both visits were underwhelming. The best word to describe this restaurant is mediocre.

I’ve tried two different steaks here, and both were surprisingly bland. A properly cooked, well-seasoned steak should not need to be smothered in sauce or covered with salt and pepper at the table. Yet everyone in our group reached for both.

The portion sizes for appetizers and the so-called “shareable” sides were disappointing and small enough that we left still feeling hungry. The bacon “wrapped” shrimp starter isn’t even wrapped in bacon, the 3 shrimp just had shredded bits of bacon. Service was similarly lackluster. On our last visit, the waitress asked if I would like a salad with my steak. The way she phrased it made it sound like it was included, only for it to appear as an extra charge on the bill. I do not appreciate being upsold by surprise.

If you are looking for a properly cooked, flavorful steak, skip Rochester Chop House and go to Steakhouse 22 instead. They know how to do it right.

I really wanted to like this place, but mediocre best describes it. Cardboard placemats on top of white tablecloth ruins the ambience and elegance that the restaurant is trying to seek. Zero specials on the menu, we did go on a Tuesday night, but it is also Thanksgiving week so there is an increased volume for all restaurants. They do offer a wide selection of cuts so there’s that but this restaurant feels like it is constantly playing catch-up, but it won’t get there. Sidenote the men’s bathrooms don’t even have a barrier wall between urinals. Major renovations needed.

We had a great anniversary dinner. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. Jonathan, the dining room manager, topped the night off with pure kindness. I told him they needed to bring back Sanders fudge for their cream puffs and we discussed how Sanders no longer sells to restaurants. As we wrapped up our meal Jonathan presented us with a SANDERS cream puff. He ran to Sanders and bought a jar… what a guy. We will be back and look forward to conversing with Jonathan. Thanks for the top notch customer service.
