Dagmar’s is a bakery of exceptional quality. My favorite on the shoreline. She has German specialties – the strudel is probably the best I’ve had in the US – but also delicious traditional “American” baked goods. I love to drop by for scones or (more accurately, AND) cookies for an afternoon snack.

We took a half-day trip to Old Saybrook and decided to stop by Dagmar’s Desserts after lunch. The bread pudding (the last one available) was one of the best I’ve ever had—packed with raspberries and drizzled with chocolate ganache. The portion size was perfect for my daughter and me to satisfy our sweet cravings. It was absolutely divine!

Best Bakery in CT. Worth 45 minutes drive. Also I ordered 3 cakes for different occasions. . They did amazing job accommodating all my needs and requests. The cakes are delicious. FYI-im very picky with my food and flavors .

An out-of-towner, I googled “pastries” and wound up here. I’ve never been more pleased with a search result. Nevermind that the croissant, strudel, danish, plum cake, lark, tort, tart, and gallete were amazing- every staff person was completely attentive to customer needs in a friendly, genuine way that made it a pleasure to shop here. The coffee was great, too- made with care and a perfect complement to the sweets. If that weren’t enough, the young lady at the counter handled an ugly situation with such grace, my love for humans is restored. There is hope for us after all! Buy this food! You won’t regret it.

We needed a baker for a celebration at the shoreline even though we live in central CT. Beautiful shop to meet up for a treat, however, we ordered a 12 inch round cake (for up to 30 people), and the baker was so accommodating, worked hard to meet our needs. The cake was delicious. Everyone loved it and it came out with lovely details of gold throughout the cake design. Very happy we decided on this place.

Oh, heaven!!!! If you’re visiting Old Saybrook, be sure to stop in to this lovely old-timey-with-a-modern-look bakery!!!! A local resident I chatted with (we both wanted to order one of EVERYTHING in the display case!), recommended the scones.
I immediately launched myself over to the other display case and ordered the cranberry-orange scone and a cup of coffee.
The scone was delicious! Light, flakey, and the perfect combination of sweet and buttery. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!
I had tremendous difficulty NOT buying up lots and lots of baked goods (we’re traveling, otherwise…).

I really like the flourless chocolate cake. I ordered it last year and ordered it this year just before Christmas as I forgot to do it earlier. Wanted the small one as my kids , my husband like some other goodies but it was only large available and what can I say I have been keep eating a slice each day with my coffee:) I really like it but it depends on each taste 😉

I ordered a key lime pie for a co-workers birthday. Everyone raved it was the best they’ve ever had. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Can’t recommend them enough.

What a wonderful experience! We ordered a special cake and were so pleased at the quality, attention to detail and service. The cake itself was beautiful, exactly what we wanted with a buttercream that was absolutely marvelous and at a good price. The service was above and beyond and we will not only return, but we will also tell our friends! Thank you Dagmar’s for making our event special!
