Driving from Alaska to Texas and we stumbled upon 281 diner and we were very impressed! The owners were very friendly, the food and property were fantastic! Everything was clean, and the food was freshly prepared! We loved everything we had! If you are in the area, it’s a wonderful place to stop! Wide variety on the menu also!

On our long road trip to Sturgis, we wanted to experience local culture and eat and shop small businesses. We found the 281 Diner. This is a lovely little diner off athe beaten path in Stickney, SD. The owners and operators Polly and Larry Olsen were so hospitable. The food was amazing and the service was quick. If you are in the area or traveling to or from Sturgis during bike week, it is worth the trip to eat here.

Stopped in here a year ago and had some great food and conversation. Stopped in tonight and the quality has went down – guessing new management as it was for sale last year. Canned mushrooms on the mushroom Swiss burger, buns were not fresh. Malt was runny and appeared to be made with powder milk. Not the same as before. So sorry.

What a wonderful surprise. I unexpectedly happened upon the diner and so glad I did. Great burger and fries and terrific service. The double was bigger than I expected. Make sure to bring cash or a check.
