We started with the Spicy Pork Soup Dumplings and steamed pork buns, which were both delightful. The dumplings had a good meat to dough ratio and were full of flavor. For our drinks, we enjoyed a classic hot green tea and a rich brown sugar milk bubble tea.
For my main course, I ordered the Pork Tonkotsu Ramen. The bone broth was incredibly rich and creamy, and the soft-boiled egg was cooked to perfection. My husband was equally impressed with his Samurai Steak, which was expertly seasoned and cooked just right, served with plenty of fresh vegetables and fried rice.
The only hiccup was the service, which was a bit too attentive. We felt a little rushed, with constant check-ins and refills every five minutes. The staff even started to box up our leftovers before we were done with our meal, which made us wonder if we were overstaying our welcome.
Overall, the food at Kyushu Ramen and Dumpling House is outstanding and clearly made with care. It’s a great spot for a delicious meal, as long as you don’t mind a very fast-paced dining experience.
When we walked in to Kyushu, we were immediately greeted. Decor is adorable. Booths are comfy. Alcohol selection was perfect (three types of sake, japanese and belgian beer).
Soup Dumplings (pork/crab) were 10/10.
Miso Ramen w/ Pork was 10/10.
Black Garlic Tonkatsu w/ Pork was 10/10.
The pork bone broth was fantastic, full of umami and left me wanting to eat the whole bowl. The pork belly was tender and fatty and full of flavor.
I cannot wait to come back and try a bunch of japanese apps. I had my eye on the Karaage, Takoyaki and some Veg Tempura.
Every server was lovely. Cannot wait to come back.
Takoyaki – This dish is making my mouth water thinking about it! It’s crunchy on the outside and creamy and unctuous on the inside. The bonito flakes on top were so fresh, you could actually see them flexing back and forth because of the heat!
Salt & Pepper Calamari – The calamari was a rad chewy, but the exterior batter was crunchy and flavorful. It was garnished with diced peppers and green onions. The dipping sauce was flavorful as well.
Kyushu Karaage – This dish was very flavorful, but a little too heavy on the salt for me. It was almost like the chicken, batter, and sauce were all salted. It had a great flavor though. The eel sauce and aioli were drizzled on top. I would have preferred these on the side.
Soup Dumplings – We tried almost all of the different varieties of soup dumplings. I can honestly say these are some of the best soup dumplings I’ve had locally. The dough was just the right amount of thickness to hold up, but not too thick. My favorites by far were the Crabmeat and Pork soup dumplings. The only two complaints I have is that the Squash Pork and Shrimp soup dumplings and the dipping sauce on the table were a little bland. Next time, I will bring my own chili flakes in oil.
Yaki Udon – My wife ordered shrimp and I ordered beef on a previous visit. The noodles were perfectly cooked and the sauce was very flavorful. The noodles had the perfect amount of sauce, not too much or too little. The veggies were fresh and crisp. I definitely recommend trying this dish.
Everyone is very nice and the owner is right up front if you need help with anything. Definitely a place you’ll frequent once you try!
The food was fantastic! The Pork Dumplings, Gyoza, and Siu Mai were absolutely delicious—expertly crafted with rich flavors.
For our main dishes, we tried the Mazesoba and Spicy Tonkotsu with Pork. The pork was wonderfully tender and seasoned to perfection. While the broth had a mild flavor, we found it slightly lacking in depth. Additionally, the generous noodle portion outweighed the broth, leaving us with a portion of noodles untouched at the bottom of the bowl.
Overall, a delightful experience with stellar service and flavorful dishes, though a bit more balance in the broth would elevate it further!
For me, a couple of things kept it from being a full five stars. One dish we ordered was described as spicy, but it had zero heat, which was a little disappointing. Everything tasted good, just not quite what I expected. I also personally wished the music fit the setting a bit more. The pop music didn’t really match the vibe of a dim sum restaurant and took away slightly from the atmosphere.
That said, this is a solid spot and we’d definitely come back.
