: : Javelin exceeded expectations.

Went with a group and from start to finish everything was great. The service was attentive and welcoming, and the food was outstanding. The fish was incredibly fresh — you can immediately tell they take quality seriously. Every appetizer we ordered was spot-on, clean flavors, beautifully presented, and as fresh as it gets.

The sushi and specialty dishes were top-tier, perfectly balanced, and clearly made with care. Great atmosphere for a group dinner and an overall excellent dining experience.

Will definitely be coming back. Highly recommend. OTS.

Local sushi spot that has been rebranded and revitalized into a more modern trendy restaurant.

Prices have gone up and there is a bar that serves fairly good cocktails. The matcha cocktail is great without being overly sweet.

The miso soup is suprisingly great here without being overly salty. The sushi rolls were decent, dragon roll tasted mediocre for the price. Sushi rice tasted a bit bland. The calamari was not over battered which is good but the portion size is small, compared to similar restaurants. The lowest point was the Miso black cod. Very small portion, majority just vegetables and rice with barely any flavor on the cod, which was dry. The sashimi platter saved the dinner.

The lunch special is not a terrible deal but nothing to run over for. The sushi rolls for lunch were heavy on the rice.

All in all, an easy local spot to come for some Sushi but not the best value or taste.

Javelin is a new sushi restaurant in Fairmount serving up some fantastic food at fair prices!

The interior is quaint and casual. We came on a very cold day and it was pretty cold in there too. Just a fair warning you may want to bring layers!

We started with the berry blossom drink and miso soup. The drink was sweet and tart, the taste was on point. However, there was so much ice in the cup. It was filled to the top. I only took about 4 to 5 sips before it was completely done. The miso soup was a bit of a letdown, the rich umami flavor was missing. It almost seemed like the stock was watered down.

On to the showstoppers – s*x on a beach roll, pan seared black cod and rock shrimp. All three dishes left us saying wow. The sushi roll had a flavor of textures that worked so perfectly together. The creamy sesame sauce was so unique and delicious. My favorite roll I’ve had in philly. The black cod was a huge portion for only $30. It was cooked well, the veggies were seasoned and everything about it felt hearty. The rock shrimp were huge and a large portion. The sauce was sweet and creamy.

The only feedback I have would be to add some type of fresh herb to the rock shrimp and plate it on a darker dish to present it a bit better.

Overall, we had a great experience and are so happy to have a go-to sushi place in Fairmount! I can’t wait to come back.

We’ve stopped by a few weeks after the rebrand, and it seemed like they were still working out the kinks. The sushi was.. okay.

HOWEVER we’ve been back 3-4 times since then and it’s been five stars every time. The staff are extremely nice, knowledgeable, and personable. The sushi tasted generous and fresh. Super flavorful and satisfying. The drinks are pretty great.

One criticism would be that I would advise against the strawberry matcha– there’s no visible strawberries and it’s incredibly thickly saccharine.. not something you’d expect from a matcha drink.

Despite that one flaw, everything else has been excellent. The decor is very charming and lovely for a dinner date in the neighborhood.

I love that oat milk is the standard for the mocktails here. Also, I’ve never seen a salmon tempura roll. This place will for sure be my go to sushi spot with friends and my wife moving forward. Thanks for the great food and great service.

I’ve been so excited for Javelin to open in the neighborhood, and it did not disappoint. I stopped by during the soft opening, and even with the team still working through some early logistics, everything was fantastic.

We tried several appetizers and rolls—everything was incredibly fresh and full of flavor. The wasabi edamame was a standout, and honestly, you can’t go wrong with any of the sushi.

This place is already a gem, and I can’t wait to come back.

This is a great newer sushi and Japanese spot in Fairmount! Everything is freshly made and the menu has a great selection of sushi and Japanese dishes. My favorite thing by far though are the lunch specials – I go there almost every week for them. For lunch we have loved the three roll special, the teriyaki chicken, and the chicken tempura lunch specials, it’s all so good. There are a bunch of good sushi spots in the area, but this is what keeps me coming back: the consistency, the lunch specials, they have the best Udon you can get in the area, a great selection of rolls, and I plan on trying their happy hour soon. Will be back soon!

We ordered quite a bit and finished them all! Presentation of the food were so appetizing, we forgot to take photos for many dishes before digging in. The drinks were strong. They offer a good variety for food: we all liked the yellowtail jalapeno app and the avocado crab meat tower. The pearl specialty roll, javelin sashimi and Totoro were fresh & great quality. even my kids enjoyed a good meal. My son enjoyed the curry udon and gyoza. the vegetable udon soup was perfect for my toddler. Very nice ambience too!

Great addition to the Philly dining scene! I was at the Art Museum with a large group and came across Javelin. Decided to pop in for an early dinner and the staff was very accommodating. The drinks are strong and tasty. The sushi is fresh and top notch. The menu is extensive and is sure to please everyone, even the younger ones. Can’t wait to go again to try more drinks and food.

Spent $18 on specialty sushi – lobster salad – and instead of lobster salad we got bread. All bread filling. This is not lobster salad nor is it barely lobster. The fried calamari was soggy. A real bummer
