Plain Folk Live is a community-oriented gathering place offering good food, good coffee, good beer, and good music in a historical setting… we’re just plain folk looking to have a good time! A two-room schoolhouse built in 1913, the Pleasant Plain Public School is home to Plain Folk Cafe! Enjoy our fresh-brewed gourmet coffee, craft beer selection, cafe menu, and live entertainment inside; or on a nice day, sit outside under the covered pavillion. There’s even a full playground for the kids! In the summer months, look for live music on the deck. Featuring live folk/acoustic/bluegrass music, Plain Folk Cafe is open Thursday through Sunday. We just left Saturday breakfast and I can’t say enough good things. We shared Hippie Hash, Breakfast Burrito and the French Toast all were fresh and yummy!! Atmosphere is great with perfect music playing and our hippie helper was just perfect! We will be back!

The hippie cafe is a good place to get a meal, the menu had a decent selection of breakfast foods. The breakfast burrito tasted fresh and was served hot. Wait time was really long though.

I love the theme of the place! My father, younger brother and husband are all musicians. So I loved the music memorabilia. The overhead radio was playing good bluegrass/folk music. I was working so I asked for a quick and easy grilled cheese. It was four cheeses and so delicious! The menu says five but I didn’t want the pepper jack cheese on mine. It came with kettle chips and a side. I got bbq chips and baked beans. They were so good! I will stop there any time I’m in that area!

Live music Thursday, Friday and Saturdays year round. Hear the opening act on the outside deck from 6-7:30 in the summer. Then the featured band begins on the indoor stage at 7:30. Or stay outside in summer and watch featured band on TV screen and enjoy the sunset!

The chicken and beef are cooked low and slow so entrees are moist and tender. They offer wraps, paninis, quesadilla, salads, soups, chili, sandwiches and desserts. Also known for their grilled cheese sandwiches, 16 varities! Budget friendly.
The owners are welcoming and started the restaurant 6.5 years ago. Breakfast is served Saturday and Sunday from 8-11:30 offering homemade jams and jellies.

Checked out Plain Folk Cafe after church this morning, for breakfast, in Pleasant Plain. This is an awesome roadside diner in an old schoolhouse from 1913. A quaint place with delicious food, and amazing homemade jam to go with the delicious biscuits. I had the Hippy Hash and hubby had Smothered Southern Stack; both were delicious. Prices are great ($), & they treat you like family. Live Folk Music on Friday & Saturday.
