We arrived about 40 minutes before closing time. We didn’t know it at the time that we were that close to closing, however, all the staff were interacted with didn’t say a word about what time they close. In fact, they were over the top friendly and helpful. The food was great. We ordered a couple of tacos, loaded nachos, and fajitas for two. The meat needed some salt in my opinion but I’m known for liking too much salt. We will be back for sure!

We’re from the pacific Northwest where good Mexican food can be found, but it’s not easy. We are visiting for early Thankgiving and my in laws brought us to The Taco Bar and we loved our tacos so much, we were thinking about them the next day.

So what did we do?

We went back the next day. PHENOMENAL. I had the chicken and waffles taco, chicken fajita taco, and steak fajita taco. All three were glorious but I will say the chicken fajita taco wasn’t just food, it was an experience. I can still take it just by remembering it. I kept shaking my head after every bite, as if I couldn’t believe what I was tasting. And yes, I am not over-hyping it. It’s that good.

My wife was a HUGE fan of the queso, and I will say it blows any queso I’ve had in the past out the window.

The service was above and beyond. Wonderful staff at this place from the moment you enter until you leave. Food and drinks came out quick. I had the non-alcoholoc Jeffarita (I probably spelled it wrong) and it’s super good.

My in laws spoke extremely highly about the owners and talked about how well they’ve been doing with their restaurants. You all deserve a very big pat on the back for being so good at this. It’s not easy, but what you’re doing with the staff and the food is just out of this world, and I hope your success continues.

Thank you again for such an unforgettable meal.

This was the best way to spend an afternoon! Hidden next to the Lowe’s Market, this unassuming outside will surprise you once you walk in. A beautiful bar set up, small and intimate seating. Friendly staff to great you right when you walk in.

I sat at the bar for lunch and had a refreshing strawberry basil mezcal cocktail. Made with fresh basil from their own plants. It was a perfectly matched sweet, smokey combo. And then the tacos Homemade tortillas with that little char from the grill. I ordered the Hawaiian Porkie and the Barbacoa with a side of Elote. Happiness. I ordered happiness. The meat was perfectly seasoned and cooked. If I wasn’t headed to a wedding I would have ordered a tray of these just to walk around and hand them out.

We are from Houston, just came for a mini vacay. Stopped at the Taco Bar with no previous insight. We were surprised in the BEST way! I got the surf and turf taco and whatever sauce that is on it was amazing! The shrimp and steak were cooked perfectly! And our waitress was so attentive and welcoming! 10/10 recommend!

This was our second time to The Taco Bar and it did not disappoint! The atmosphere is incredible – such a swanky vibe. We got crab tostadas, tuna tostadas and grilled avocado with chimichurri sauce for appetizers. Portion sizes were generous, presentation was gorgeous, and it was all so tasty. We each got different tacos to try. Fried shrimp, surf and turf, fried chicken and waffle, and outside skirt steak – all so different and so good! We ended with the tres leches cake. We figured we were so full that we would split one between the door of us, but it was so good we splurged and got a second piece to share! It was perfect and not too sweet. For drinks we shared a margarita flight, a pineapple jalapeño margarita (the suggested pairing with the shrimp taco), and a few beers. We were blown away by the quality of the food and loved the in-house-made tortillas. We were even more impressed when our waiter explained to us that our whole meal was made from scratch in-house! We will definitely be back SOON!

We love the ambiance of this place! The food was top tier, we enjoyed the margarita flight and settled on the classic as our favorite. Of all the food we tried, the tuna tostada and surf and turf taco stood out! Can’t recommend highly enough.

Looking for an upscale taco experience in North Austin? The Taco Bar is it! Love the variety of flavors and the quality of food here. New spot that you can tell the owners put love into as it’s a local concept that we love to support. Trust me, worth the drive to Lago – go and check them out! The lobster taco and elote queso are the favorites in our household.

Don’t waste your money. Over priced, bad quality. Ordered a duck taco cost $12 for 1 no rice or beans just the taco. Realize that is steep, but it’s advertised as a craft taco bar. Went unsusual plus had low iron which duck is high in. What a disappointment. Open this poorly made tortilla, wilted shopped to death basic lettuce not the butter leaf as described, then chunks of whole mandarin and duck on the top. The duck was dried out, tough, and no hosein sauce as stated on menu description. The only thing that made it edible was smothering it in quest dip to hide the flavor. Now I’m disabled plus dealing with a broken foot, so getting my $12 taco home at 8:30pm and they close at 9 going back wasn’t even an option. Someone seriously needs to get the kitchen fixed. The staff at the front of the house was great. I was considering coming in on Christmas Eve, especially after how friendly the staff were, but they can’t fix the poor quality over priced food. There is a reason my family doesn’t eat out in Lago Vista the restaurants and food trucks charge too much for food that’s not worth it. You feel like the restaurant owners are trying to take advantage/screw you over. Totally not worth it!

I walked in on Taco Tuesday and you would have thought it was 8pm on a Saturday night in downtown Austin! The atmosphere was so energetic, and the yummy food and creative drinks did not disappoint. I will come here any night of the week. Such a great menu. Also, I was visiting from Colorado where it is next to impossible to get a Mexican martini. It’s on the menu here and absolutely fabulous!
