Today was my first time visiting Flavas Grill, and I ordered the jerk chicken and fried chicken.
Before going, I called the restaurant to ask whether it was better to order ahead or if I could just walk in and get my food right away. The person who answered the phone was very kind and helpful — such a nice guy. That alone already made a great impression.
I usually travel all the way to Manhattan for good Jamaican food, so I was extremely happy to finally find a delicious Jamaican restaurant close to home. The chicken was incredibly tender, full of flavor, and absolutely delicious. The fried chicken was also amazing.
I’m sure this will become a place I visit often. Highly recommended!

Let’s get straight to it, because I only mean business with this one. I was visiting the area, did my usual Google dive, and landed on Flavaz after seeing a photo that spoke to my soul. And honestly, I trust pictures more than some of y’all’s reviews (respectfully, of course ).
Naturally, I called ahead to confirm the star of the show, oxtail.. and it was on the menu! Then came my usual line of questioning: how fresh, how tender, how generous are we talking here? And let me tell you, they did not disappoint!
Valerie, who was running things at the time, delivered A+ service from start to finish. Friendly, attentive, and clearly knows how to make a guest feel welcome. If management happens to read this: go ahead and give her that raise, she’s a gem.
I went all in with extra oxtail, rasta pasta, and rice & peas, and I’ve been feeling spiritually fulfilled ever since. Tried to keep this short , truly? but when the food and service hits, you’ve got to give credit where it’s due.
Flavaz Grill is serving up authentic Jamaican comfort food done right. Get the oxtails. You won’t be disappointed – unless you didn’t order enough!

I just ordered the stew chicken with rice and peas and cabbage. Honestly I think it’s been one of the best Caribbean spots in Bergen county. I did order towards the end of the night and they informed me they ran out gravy for the stew chicken but were able to do oxtail gravy instead. It was still very delicious- the chicken, the gravy, the rice, the cabbage, everything! Everything was delicious. The customer service was really good. The 2 girls who took my order were very nice and accommodating. Im definitely recommending to friends and family.

update: took a chance on the jerk chicken wrap and I must say its the best thing I’ve eaten this year it was perfection.
It’s become really hard to find consistently good jerk chicken these days. A lot of my former favorite spots have fallen off and with food like this, you can tell when the love and effort aren’t there anymore.
That said, this place absolutely nailed it. The jerk chicken was a home run perfectly seasoned, flavorful, and cooked just right. The rice and peas and the sides were just as impressive. If I lived closer, I’d honestly eat here every day. That’s how good it is.
The only small negatives were the packaging and the limited sauce, but truthfully, the chicken didn’t even need much extra. Overall, this spot is a definite hit.

Great food, large portions and even better service. I’m happy to know that finally Bergen County has great carribean food. We were missing this for quite sometime. I pray they get a couple of tables outside for the vibe.

I cannot recommend this place more! When you are use to the Jamaican spots like Golden Crust I can’t explain how amazing it is to have food that is infused with love and flavor. Everything from the rice and peas, the mac and cheese, the Rasta pasta, etc was sooooo good!! 10/10 recommend. Not to mention the owner Lennox was sooo caring when my brother and I went into his store. If you want authentic Jamaican food

I had the Jerk Chicken Wrap and wow it literally woke up my taste buds ! It was bursting with flavor, crunch, and spice. What I enjoyed the most was how it was a bit spicy but yet it did not compromise the flavor of the chicken. Sampled some of the Oxtail Mac&Cheese which was very cheesy .

Was just there and had a bite to eat with the hubby since he’s always craving oxtails. This place did not disappoint. My husband was so happy and that’s because we have been searching for good Carribean food and we have found it. The food felt like it was a home cooked meal made from the heart. I recommend this place.
