I love HayJay and am grateful it is so close to our house so we can grab delicious coffee and breakfast whenever we want! I haven’t been disappointed with anything I have tried but my favorite thing so far is the breakfast burrito absolute perfection with crispy potatoes, eggs, veggies, salsa, and cheese. I also had the cinnamon roll a couple days ago and it was SO GOOD like one of the best I’ve ever had. My daughter raves for the pancakes as well. The coffee is always delicious too not super sweet like other coffee chains and lots of options.

Hay jays is what a breakfast spot should be, home cooked tasting food, with plenty of options. It is not over priced like most places in town and they don’t skimp on quality. The staff is very friendly as well!!

New place near Bennington I really enjoyed. Great service right when you walk in. Lots of good winter themed coffees and espressos. Enjoyed an omelet with potatoes and some really good sourdough. Good coffee as well. Recommended!

Mixed bag review here. Let’s start with the good. My husband LOVED his energy drink he got. He already is planning when to go back for more. My coffee drink was pretty good, I got the pumpkin sticky bun latte and all I could taste was the pumpkin flavor I was hoping the other flavors would shine through as well.

The not so good. We did a mobile order for curbside, my husband went to pick it up. The parking lot was packed and there was no designated curbside spot at least that he could see. So he went inside. When he got home he realized he didn’t get his side of fries. He said the burrito he ordered was just okay but he really liked the salsa it came with.

My pancakes had some sort of meat grease on them and were stained orange. It smelled and tasted like chorizo was cooked right next to it. Not the end of the world for me but id rather not taste meat on the pancakes especially since I don’t like chorizo. My 4 year old wouldn’t eat them because of the slight meat taste to them. If I were still vegan this would have been a big no no.

I wasn’t a fan of the biscuits and gravy personally. The gravy had a very big piece of sausage that wasn’t broken down and the flavor was just not my favorite but nothing wrong with them in general, I’m sure many people would like them.

Overall not horrible, not my favorite. I would just be cautious if you have a certain diet/ lifestyle like vegan etc. and double check your order before you leave if you do mobile ordering. Drinks seem like a safe bet.

Great locally owned option. Delicious breakfast and the spot has tons of potential. Great food and well thought out menu with fresh ingredients. They are working through opening kinks but staff was friendly and attentive. Once they find their groove it’ll only get smoother and better. Chorizo Benedict was spot on. Will return and would recommend.

I stopped into Hay Jay today thinking I’d just grab a light snack and get a bit of work done on my laptop. I was pleasantly surprised to find they offer sandwiches and other café-style menu items. I had the Bacon Avocado Club and the Chicken-Vegetable Soup—both were delicious, and the service was just as impressive. The space is clean and has a nice vibe—just the right amount of background noise to be productive without feeling like you’re in a library.

I’ve been looking for a good cafe that is close to Bennington and was so excited when Hay Jay opened! I’ve given the place 3 tries now and each time leave more disappointed than the last. Yesterday, I went in for breakfast on the cafe side. Service was great and the avocado toast was tasty! However, after maybe 30 min working on my computer the internet went out. I work from home so internet connection is key when working from a cafe. I was almost done with my food so I just asked for the check and let my server know about the wifi. I was told sorry, it’s probably because there are a lot of people using the wifi. I feel like the wifi should be able to handle more than 3 computers and your pos system. If I’m paying $27 (with tip) for avocado toast, a black coffee, eggs and sausage links, your wifi should be able to handle more people. Honestly, I am bummed but probably won’t be back to sit inside again.

Honestly, I’ve only ever had one experience that was just “okay,” and that was completely on me—I got sidetracked and forgot to place my order online, so I had to order at the window instead. Every other visit has been absolutely wonderful. No matter if I order online or in person, Jaxon (Jackson) always goes above and beyond to make sure I’m taken care of. His attention to detail, positive attitude, and genuine care for customers really stand out. He’s friendly, professional, and always makes sure everything is right before I leave. You can tell he truly takes pride in what he does, and that kind of service is rare these days. I’m genuinely thankful he works there—he’s the reason I keep coming back!

Would not recommend. Drive down the street to Moon Hollow and you’ll have a MUCH better experience. Hell, I’d even prefer McDonalds over the lack of customer service I’ve gotten here. Have placed multiple online orders, every time no one greets you when you walk in, you’ll sit there for 10 minutes before anyone says anything. Owner was more concerned with discussing the fact they were slower this weekend than last rather than checking on people standing right in front of the clearly posted “pick up” area. The food isn’t bad, but not worth the hassle in my opinion.
