I saw that The Good Kitchen 614 had reopened after a short period of time to rejuvenate. I had a great conversation with Will about the time off and the decision to return. The Good Kitchen 614 is such a pillar in the community and does so much good. On to the food today. Ordered the Salisbury Steak with onions and gravy. So tender and flavorful. Greens with pork just like grandma made. Then the Mac n cheese which is made the old fashioned way, baked in the oven. Could have ordered more. Yummmy. Then there were the baked beans, OMG!!! So flavorful. If you want great food, made by phenomenal people that give back to the community, you definitely should check them out. You won’t be disappointed.

I had the special which was Liver and Onions. My sides were collard greens and black eyed peas. Everything was delicious. No room to eat inside. Plan to take out. Building was a little rough looking almost overlooked it. Looked more like automotive shop from the outside (but I’m from out of town not a local). Literally a hole in the wall kind of place. But the staff were nice and food was so good.

I can’t speak to the atmosphere because our food was ordered through Uber Eats, but this is the best takeout I’ve had in years. I don’t usually like to eat out because I’m so particular about my food and could easily make most dishes at a fraction of the cost. My daughter, on the other hand, eats out several times a week and insisted I try this place. She and I are still talking about how delicious and fresh our fish, greens, sweet potatoes and pork chops were and are planning to order them again soon. Worth every dollar!!!!

I hate to say it but I was disappointed. The food looked pretty but tasted no better than MCL’s flavorless food. I only had 5 wings and I gave 3 of them away.
They should be able to do better than what they’re doing.

Usually not open the couple of times that I have tried to order food. But the couple of times that I have succeeded in getting their food was a success. Their food is delicious always hot and always fresh I am a huge fan of their sweet potatoes.

The first thing you notice when you walk in is the big fan on the ceiling with mounds of dirt caked up on the blades. Then you have to deal with the rude young guys who seem like they’d rather be anywhere else doing anything other than working. ( the ladies working the first time were nice I guess ) but then you can’t order over the phone ? You have to come in ? That’s just bad business. Last thing is the food, I’ve had a few items and all are just passing for edible. The Mac is dry and bland, the chicken is seasoned well but always and I mean ALWAYS undercooked! The baked beans are okay if you like onions in them ? Anyways. I’ve been here 4 or 5 times because it’s local and black owned but I can’t be supporting bad business. Please clean up and have someone who’s passionate about the food they serve. A lot of potential but falls very flat with all things considered. Also! The prices are insane!! 16 dollars for a main and two sides? That’s more than city bbq and roosters? And I can get more with a better atmosphere and service. Come on now yall.

I absolutely love their food! Pork chops are the best, chicken, greens, that sweet potato cobbler, omg the best! We’ve tried several menu items. We ate here several times. We would eat there much more if their hours were consistent. We drive from the other side of town, because no one ever answers the phone, and they are usually closed. Very disappointing because my husband and I would be there 3-4 times a week if they were open more with better hours. By the time we get off work they are normally closed, by 3:30-4pm?! Once one of the employees told me that they hours are based on their business, if they are slow on any given day they will close early….

The service was good but it definitely wasn’t what I thought it would be. Lady said they were out of greens, and corn bread. Got the chicken meal and the chicken was flavorless, the website say you can dine in and it was just 3 high chairs and a counter and the lady serving said we were not allowed to eat inside. Green beans were steamed with no seasoning, macaroni was ok but not the best I’ve had. Spent $32 dollars on 2 meals. Might try coneys but wasn’t worth the money.
