Reviews
There was much debate on the trip to Moncks Corner about the best spot to to find victuals. We decided on Fireside because it had good reviews and its menu satisfied the largest percentage hungry offspring.
The approach to the pizza place wasn’t “uptown” but not a bad part of town. It resides in a non-descript strip mall area where all the signs are the same. You get the feeling from the outside it will be a hole in the wall place with greasy ambiance. It is not at all!
The restraunt is very neat, clean and bright. There restroom is very clean. The food is very good!
We started with the cheese steak egg rolls. They were excellent. Piping hot with super crispy wonton wrap. We also ordered three different pizzas to try. The pizzas were Short Rib Truffle, Cali Bae, and Hot Honey Roccata.
About the pizzas – very good Woodford crust. The flavor was particularly good. My favorite was the short rib pizza because it was the meatiest. The others were very tasty too.
The wee lass got the Korean BBQ. After tasting it that’s what I’ll have next time. It was meat wrapped rice with cucumbers and spice leaf spinach with a hint of kimmchi.
Did I mention that everything is made from scratch on site?
The girls got cheesecake pumpkin pie to share for desert. I had a taste and it was good. Im not a cheesecake aficionado so I liked it, but its not my thing. The girls rated it 8 or 9.
I took a couple pictures on the way out. The fellow operting the oven turned from his chores. I told him I was taking pictures for my google review that would be very good. He introduced himself as the owner and thanked me.
Then we headed to the Abby.
Don’t skip the poke nachos either—they’re a standout! Honestly, I haven’t had a single thing here that I didn’t love. On top of the amazing food, the service is always outstanding. Fireside SC may have a casual atmosphere, but the food is easily five-star quality.
We called today to ask. The person on the phone (worker 1) was not knowledgeable about tree nuts and asked another worker (worker 2). The phone was not on mute and I heard the entire conversation.
We ordered a four cheese pizza without Gorgonzola. I heard worker 2 say Gorgonzola is a cheese not a nut.
— I know this, we just don’t like Gorgonzola cheese.
Worker one reports back, Gorgonzola is a cheese, not a nut.
I say, yes — our daughter has a sever tree nut allergy so any products that are used ie wheat could be processed in a facility with tree nuts so I’m checking to be sure the food is safe as well as cross contamination.
(Pesto is on the menu which is always a red flag for me as some contain tree nuts.)
Anyways, I don’t feel comfortable after hearing the conversation feeding our daughter pizza there who has a tree nut allergy.
Pizza is brought home. $17 for this. There’s nothing to it. Was hoping this would be a great take out for us but we will stick with Laura’s who are very knowledgeable about food allergies and accommodating plus delicious!
Stars are given provided lack of knowledge pertaining to the menu/ food allergies and quality of pizza.
Suggestions: educate the team on the most common food allergies and how to accommodate families so they are safe. Create a separate list or items for reference. Have an internal button in the system with all major allergens to prevent cross contamination. Speak with a manager anytime a food allergy question occurs or make that a protocol.
