We’ve ordered several birthday cakes from Forest & Flour and they’ve all been amazing. We are a family with dairy and gluten allergies and their cakes are the only ones that we will order now. We think they taste better than cakes with dairy and gluten and those who don’t have allergies love them too.

My daughter took me here and it’s surprisingly good. No gluten at all.
Lots of return customer the owner told me.
If there is a chance you are near by, give it a try, you won’t disappoint it.

As a vegan recently diagnosed with celiac disease, I was so happy to find this cute bakery! The staff was lovely, the ambience was beautiful, and we felt very at peace while enjoying our treats. My husband and I tried the avocado toast (without egg), pumpkin chocolate muffin, chocolate cake, matcha oat latte and coffee oat latte. There were other cakes, breads, and drinks available for vegans, too. Everything tasted great, and we particularly loved the chocolate cake. We spent $56, and tip was included.

Food: my friend and I were here to get brunch, and ready to enjoy a nice catchup. When we see the price of the drink we were shocked (especially the matcha) so we decided to grab a bite and find somewhere else. The avocado toast tasted fantastic! It’s loaded with nutritious greens and seeds, which gives the toast a good balance of crunchiness.
Service: super nice and helpful. Got our utensils and napkins from the self assisted area.
Ambiance: it’s very cozy and quiet.

I am so glad I visited Forest and Flour to try their food. I purchased a cookie, lavender bread, chai, and a pumpkin muffin, and everything was delicious. It’s clear they pay attention to every detail, making their food and beverages worth coming back for again and again.

WOW are the prices high for what you get! I know they source locally and have read their site about costs, values, etc, which I appreciate, however the bottom line is 3 of the 4 items I purchased were really not good – I’d be willing to pay this much only for yummy food.
I ordered the French toast to eat at the restaurant, which I found to be really dry and lacking flavor unless dipped in the syrup they provided. The orange spread was okay, but was mostly made of rind and not well paired with the bread. I did really like the matcha latte!
I purchased a baguette and monkey cinnamon muffin to go and was really disappointed with both. The muffin had good flavor, but was again very dry and dense, and even after putting it in the microwave briefly it didn’t soften up the same day I purchased it. The baguette was the worst of everything I purchased – the crust was so incredibly tough and thick that I couldn’t cut through it or take a bite. Since I paid so much for it I also put it in the microwave for a bit to try and soften it enough to cut. It was still very hard, but I was able to cut pieces of it using a lot of force and a large bread knife. The inside was again very dense and not at all similar to “real bread” or other gluten free baguettes I’ve had which have aimed to be light and airy. It felt bad to throw away given the cost, and my family got through it one piece each over several different dinners – none of which were good.
I hate to write a negative review as GF eateries are few and far between in the Bay Area, but I was truly so disappointed in the food I purchased.

In Fremont for the Fourth of July, I used the Find Me Gluten Free app to search for a good GF spot. My daughter with celiac disease was thrilled when I found this dedicated gluten free cafe (also free of peanuts, dairy, soy). It’s a beautiful little cafe, very nicely decorated and modern but cosy. My avocado toast was like a little work of art – just beautiful to look at and very tasty. And although it was on the small side, it satisfied my hunger. My daughter had a grilled cheese sandwich – again pretty tiny- and a frosted chocolate cupcake to go. We also bought a loaf of brioche to take home – which she loved, best GF bread we’ve managed to find so far. The food was very high quality; the staff were friendly, welcoming, and obviously proud of the cafe. The prices though. For the size of the portions, the cost was a little hard to take. I’ll repeat that I found everything to be of high quality so high prices are justified. The owner here is clearly trying to do the right thing. Well sourced, health and earth conscious ingredients; properly treated and paid staff. And that doesn’t come cheap. But it’s tough these days. I feel I earn a decent living and yet there’s no way I could frequent a cafe like this on anything like a regular basis. At $10 for one frosted cupcake, $14 for a very small loaf of bread, it’s just not realistic for the average person. But if you’ve got money to spend I highly recommend you try this lovely little spot.
