The subway in Portland, Connecticut is pretty much the only good subway in my whole area. Subway used to be the best fast food place, but they have all gone downhill. And this one in Portland is great because all the vegetables are fresh. The people that work there are not only friendly, but are very helpful and genuine. And no other subways are this good. This has been a long-standing subway and I come here as often as I can.

I ordered The Beast sub 6” with added bacon, toasted as well as The Spicy Nacho Chicken sub
6” with added bacon, toasted, which they didn’t do correctly as I received them both not toasted and without the added bacon, that I paid additionally for. I called the store and spoke to Emily which she had mentioned that she was the manager at the time being about my issue and she just disregarded everything I said as well as disrespected me by hanging up the phone on me. I don’t recommend this location as they’re rude and careless about your food.

The workers there barely want to work – its usually the afternoon crew minus one lady (wish I knew her name) she was holding it down.
Everyone else make no effort to want to really work.
Fountain drink machine out of order every-time
For the nacho foot long they had no nacho or no container to put them in.

Ordered pickup on Uber eats, then proceeded to sit and wait at the location for my food which wouldn’t be an issue if they didn’t give me a vegi patty sandwhich with no vegi patty on it. It’s just beyond ridiculous when you consider that, even if they didn’t have vegi patties at the time, they knew i was waiting there and they didn’t bother to ask for a substitution or a refund just handed me an empty sandwhich.

There was just one man working (possibly the owner?) and he was fantastic. Incredibly kind & attentive. Friendly & chatty while making our orders & keeping my 4yo entertained too. You don’t find many people who can multitask like this anymore. He is a gem. We’ll be back to this location to support him!

I checked the hours online at 7:55pm, Google listing said it was open until 9pm. Drove to the establishment, arrived at 8:07pm, I could see 2 employees through the large glass store front, became suspicious because the dining room lights were not on. Hours on the door concurred with Google listed hours being open until 9pm. Door was locked. Employee waves hand across her throat, I can only assume she was saying that they were closed as I could not hear her. I pointed to the hours painted on the door. Still gesturing, shaking her head, again assuming she’s telling me they are closed. The owner of this business kindly left his phone number printed on the door. I called him. He tells me they close at 8pm now and that there is a printed paper thay says that on the door, that he hasn’t gotten around to officially changing the hours on the door or online. Very poor business management. Will not waste my time at this establishment again.

The owner/manager is always pleasant when I go here and often times will throw in a free drink for no reason. He’s a good guy. The restaurant is always clean as well so that’s a plus.

The boy (new employee) who made my sandwich was wearing a long woven bracelet and kept dragging it across my sandwich. Told him he needs to keep his bracelet covered with his glove. He didn’t even apologize. This is such a health code violation! I use to enjoy going to this Subway. Unfortunately, I will not be going back to this Subway because of this disgusting experience. All employees should be trained on how to properly handle food.

Great spot, this location definitely is a lot better than most. Also, the older gentleman was absolutely phenomenal. He was incredibly sweet and kind. Food was fresh and done quickly!

Ordered sandwiches April 5, 2020 from Subway App. Paid from App received notification that sandwich would be ready at 8:40 pm. Subway of Portlands website states they were open until 9:00 pm. Went to pick up sandwiches at 8:30 pm and Subway was closed. Also tried calling Sunday and they do not provide the ability to leave a message. Spoke with the owner told him he needed to modify his hours on the website due to Corona – he told me he couldn’t and didn’t know how. Also told me they close early on Sundays – again hours are not reflected on website. The owner told me $16 was not a big deal and not a lot Of money. Had to go into Subway to get my refund – tried to explain the situation again about the app – showed him screen shots of the information received from Subway’s app regarding my order – he told me I WAS WRONG – only was concerned to make sure I didn’t call my bank to process a refund because his week was closed and didn’t want to ruin his accounting for the week. He became very agitated both on the phone and again in person! Also he didn’t know how to issue a refund – how does a business owner not know how to issue a credit!? He then put the money on the counter and told me to get out! Not once did he apologize for the situation I experienced or the inconvenience. Will not support Portland Subway ever again!
