If you really want to experience authentic Burmese food, I’m sure this restaurant will deliver it perfectly.
My husband and I went here yesterday and everything was incredible— we got the pickled tea leaf salad, goat curry (original), iced tea, and kyay-o noodles dry with brain. The salad was amazing— if you like Caesar salad you’d love this— the umami from the fermentation tastes like anchovy and Parmesan and the crunchy toppings make each bite a textural delight. I could eat it every day. The curry had such a depth of flavor and the perfect level of heat. And the noodles were phenomenal and we loved the sauces that came along with them. I definitely recommend adding the brain— it was my favorite part of the dish! And the TEA! So flavorful with the perfect amount of sweetness— not overly sweet like I find some Thai iced tea. Really, really good.
All the people working here were incredibly nice, as well. We can’t wait to make the drive and come back soon. It is well worth the trip.
We had Myanmar tea, a nice balance of sweetness and creaminess but could be a bit stronger. (For me)
The pork sticks were decent but not the standout dish. (I wish they would serve with cucumber)
Mote Hin Khar and Kyay Oh Si Chat were phenomenal, authentic, flavorful and perfectly executed.
Kyay Oh Si Chat was my favorite and the soup was absolutely fire!!!!
On top of all that, the prices are affordable and the quality of food is excellent. Definitely a must visit spot for Burmese cuisine lovers!
Very similar to Indonesian food and spice level. The flavors are rich and taste just like a nice, warm, home cooked meal! Highly recommend the beef spicy curry dish. It tastes similar to Indonesian Rendang! My husband is Indonesian and according to him, it tastes waaay better than the Rendang dishes from all the other Indonesian restaurants that we have tried. The beef was so tender and the flavor & sauce was absolutely perfect.
– Their version of Paratha is nice, light and flaky like a flat croissant. It comes with 2 pieces for $5. Perfect side with the beef curry.
– The Fish noodle soup was a delicious comfort dish. I liked the crunchy topping. Would love to try the other soup options next time.
– The Faluda dessert was nice and refreshing. It has vanilla ice cream, milk and various toppings like peanuts, jellies, pumpkin seeds, strawberry syrup, and a bit of a flan-like texture mixed in.
They have self-serve water and green tea. They already have a dine-in service charge included, so tips are not necessary unless you want to give more.
The atmosphere is clean, cozy, and I think it used to be a previous Japanese restaurant based on the decor and layout. The servers were so helpful and friendly.
Overall, I’d definitely love to come back and try their other items on the menu.
