My boyfriend and I arrived around lunch and it was quite busy. However, we got seated right away. We ordered spring rolls, special pho, and pork belly pad kra pao. Building was cold, prepare to keep your coat on when dining in during colder weather.
Spring rolls: loved it! It was nicely and tightly wrapped. They did not skip out on any fillings. 5/5
Special pho: clear broth and not as beefy. Beef bone was not fork tender but it wasn’t too bad. I love jalapeños and unfortunately, there was no jalapeños added or provided on the side. There was a lot of pho noodles. Light amount of meat provided but I assumed it was because I got the beef bone. 3/5
Pork belly pad kra pao: this was the main dish we really look forward too. However, it was a little disappointing. More on the sweet side, pork belly slices were chopped pretty big, and fatty. The crunch was still there which was a plus. They didn’t have any holy basil which was noted on their fb page but would had been nice to be aware of it when placing the order because not everyone is able to look or search on their fb page, if that is a ingredient that customers are expecting to have in their dish. 3.5/5

Excellent Thai food all around! The boat noodle was rich and flavorful with plenty of meat. The pork belly laab with sticky rice had the perfect balance of tangy, spicy, and savory. The pho was comforting with a deep, aromatic broth. Everything tasted fresh and well-prepared—definitely a spot I’d come back to for a satisfying meal with my family.

Very friendly and attentive staff. Crispy pork belly was cooked perfectly. Nicely rendered fat with crispy skin. The papaya salad was very well balanced. Thai style with perfect notes of lime and a slight sweetness. The raw laab had good balance of bitter and spice. Ordered it with medium bitter and very spicy. Would like to see more herbs on the side to help compliment the dish. The pho was beefy and hot. Did not have much for that nice aromatic smell of clove, star anise and cinnamon. Definitely worth a visit if your ever in the area.

We had a young man sit and serve us. His service is top notch and super humble and just grateful people.
We ordered combination pho, thai boat, eggeroll, spring roll.
I cannot comment on combination pho myself but my daughter who ordered it liked it.
(Rating out of 5)
Thai boat – 4.3/5. Super generous with meats and portion size. I do apologize I wasn’t able to finish all the noodles like I wanted to.
Eggrolls – 4/5. The sauce was bit on tangy/sour side. I’d like it be more overall balanced. No real complaints about eggrolls here though, I’d still eat it.
Spring roll – 4.8/5. First bite and first thought was “wow thats fresh”. I should have asked for more sauce! Which was my fault. It was so good!
These were the photos I was able to quickly snap. Not the best I was hungry.
Come support this restaraunt they have great service and such humble grateful people. It’s been a long time since I have felt such a way about an eatery. These are the types of business who deserve the support.
Yes, will be coming back to support.

Another hit on the University block party!
We got Cheemeng as our server and dude knocked it out of the park.
We got the Thai boat noodles, egg roll, and the pork belly.
Best boat noodles in town! Creamy, rich, and freaking tasty! The egg rolls are crunchy and as good as many other places. It has a taste that resembled a mix between Hmong and Vietnamese egg rolls.
I’ve had many pork bellies from hmong village and many other places, but this one blows all of them out of the water! The skin was crispy, the meat melts in your mouth. Dip it in the provided sauce and bam! They Dunit!
Hit this joint up because you ain’t gonna be disappointed!

Thai Boat 89 has some of the best pho, egg rolls, spring rolls, chicken wings, and pork belly in the Twin Cities. We went for lunch on a Friday and it was pretty busy. But the service was still great. We had the Thai boat with beef blood broth. The broth was so rich and tasty. You get a generous amount of meat. The combination pho was also amazing. The spring rolls were the best I’ve ever had. Everything we had was delicious. The server was very nice.

We were very satisfied with all the food we ordered! My favorite was the eggrolls— they were crispy, flavorful, and had a good amount of meat inside. The pork belly was fresh and perfectly crispy. Both the Thai boat and combo pho were perfectly flavored. On top of that, the owners provided excellent service and were very friendly. Highly recommended!

The food was really really good I been craving some Thai boat noodle and I had tried it the first time. Glad to say filled my cravings! Papaya was also good but I would love if they had green beans in it too! Drinks were also yummy I had gotten green Thai tea. Service was not bad overall I recommend this place! Will definitely come again!

First time trying this restaurant, and wow—the service and attention to customers were phenomenal. I honestly feel like we don’t see this often anymore at family-owned restaurants. Our waiter, Chimeng, was very kind and attentive. He was also really apologetic since the restaurant was busy and we had to wait, but I had no problem with that—if there’s a line, it usually means the food is great, and it definitely was! I really enjoyed the Pad Thai, pork belly, and spring rolls. Thank you for providing great food and service. We will be back!
