While driving down Dairy Road in Maui, I noticed one of the Mexican restaurants and decided to give it a try. I ordered the carne asada burrito. The ordering process was interesting it’s similar to a build your own concept, except you make your selections by reading from a paper board instead of a traditional menu.
The burrito itself was a good size and definitely filling. However, the carne asada was not what I expected. The meat was shaved rather than diced or chopped, making it feel more like a Philly cheesesteak wrapped in a burrito. While it tastes fine and will satisfy your hunger, it lacks the flavor and preparation of authentic carne asada.
Overall, it’s decent if you’re hungry and looking for something quick, but if you’re craving authentic Mexican food, this isn’t it. The experience felt more like a generic, Taco Bell style burrito than a traditional Mexican dish.

Ordered a chicken chimichanga and chips and salsa yo go. Chicken chimichanga had rice and beans inside with lettuce, tomato and sour cream on side. Asked if also wanted cilantro, onions or jalapeño so got cilantro. Had a medium salsa (5 kinds for purchase in 4oz and 8oz size) that had a nice smoky flavor. I thought the food was great and portions good for price. Comparable to other restaurants on Maui. Great service and quick. Would go back if visiting again.

Food & Atmosphere was good, service was quick. I felt te prices were a bit high, but I guess they are comparable to other restaurants on Maui. Staff was pleasant.

$60 for 2 meals and 1 child menu and I ask for a side of salsa for the chips I bought and the answer was either they put it on my plate or no, they have no side container for salsa. (Saving plastic) I get keeping costs down but overhead is high. The least you can do is give nachos a side to dip in. Minimally offer the paper boat to satisfy customers?!
Food had flavor, steak nachos had quite a bit of gristle.
customer service could use some help
* tipping comes after the meal* not before, seems to be a concern when the jar is empty.

Underwhelming. Carne asada taco, was bland. Grilled fish taco was decent. My issue is that they have a kitchen, yet microwaved my beens on the plastic coated paper plate. I was like “holy micro plastics and radiation Batman”. I refused those. I ate my tacos after she confirmed they were not also microwaved. I cannot say I’ll ever be back here again. There’s a lot better Mexican food on this island.

Fantastic Mexican food served in a Tex-Mex / SF Mission style. We had a wet Carne Asada Kitchen Sync burrito and a Shredded Beef Kitchen Sync burrito with a side of chips and the roasted salsa. Greeted when we came in, and had a lovely chat with the proprietor. Burritos came out quickly and were delicious. Portion sizes were definitely generous. Maybe a little too much lettuce, and we would have liked the salsa a little chunkier, but this was a great spot to relax and enjoy some quality Mexican fare. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for something uncomplicated and delicious.

Stopped in here for lunch and was glad I did. The food coming out of the kitchen all looked good and fresh. All items are made to order so you will have a short weight before your food arrives. The service was exceptional. I don’t know if it was the owner or not but the woman who helped take my order went above and beyond to answer all my questions and explain some of the menu items so I would get exactly what I was hungry for. I left with more than one meal because everything looked so good that I wanted something to go. The nachos were enough for two, and the chimichanga was crisp and loaded. I was also very impressed with the amount of extras you could add for free. For sure it would be an extra charge at most other places. The atmosphere is decorated in the style you would expect. Overall a Mexican feel but I would say a few touch ups and attention to details could help to bring the place together but definitely nothing that you would care about once your food arrives and get your first taste.

Got the Kitchen Sink burrito, wet style. Huge portion size and it was quite delicious. The meat was slightly bland, but they had salt and pepper at the table. Other than that, the flavors were all wiper delicious.

Would have liked some hot sauce to go with it.

This food was delicious! The pollo asada regular burrito had great flavor and was tender. I would eat here again. We got to the restaurant just before 11 and we’re the only people there so we were initially a bit worried that it might not be that good. Shortly after we ordered though the place became packed. We ordered at just the right time as every table was full before we finished eating.

If you are from Maui you know that brudduh John serves up the best, tastiest, savory Mexican food on the island. There’s only one thing better than his food, it’s how friendly, generous, and genuine he is. We love Pinãtas and we love Johnny boy!
