Decided to venture out to Leland today to try out one of Chef Kory’s daily specials at M&K’s Kitchen off of Lanvale Rd. M&K’s is a small gem in the Wilmington area & if you haven’t tried one of their dishes yet…I’m sorry for you. 🙂
FOOD: Today, I ordered the crab cakes w/ mac & cheese & green beans. I first tried the mac & cheese to kick off my meal. The cheese had a nice gooey & creamy consistency, paired wonderfully with well-prepared noodles. The cheese blend M&K’s uses, had a hint of, what I thought may be, pimento finely diced… but I may be wrong. It was very good. The green beans were mixed with potatoes & prepared in way that added some smokiness to the greens. Very welcoming flavors. The crab cakes surprised me & were extremely delicious. The cakes were fried just right, with a light crunchy layer surrounding the bountiful crab meat tucked inside. Each bite was moist, packed full of fresh crab & can give high-end restaurants a run for their money. The aioli was seasoned with the right touch of spices & added that extra blast of flavor with each bite. This crab cake meal means business!!! SCORE: 4.5 STARS!!
SERVICE: This is a restaurant where you pull up and order so there is not a wait staff present….but this staff is very friendly, polite & cordial. Chef Kory has a wonderful personality that radiates positivity & you will be able to tell…he wants to please you with his cooking. SCORE: 5 STARS!!!
OVERALL SCORE: M&K’s serves up southern fare w/ culinary flare. It has charm but will compete against some of the more notable restaurants in town. I did enjoy this meal today. SCORE: 4.75 STARS!!

*edit: Food is still just as awesome, but they moved to a new location on Village Road. (Old Mr. Frostys location) and now they offer delivery!*A hidden gem! I don’t usually rave about food, but I plan on trying everything on the menu! Any longtime resident of Leland knows where the old hot dog stand is. The food is amazing, and it was refreshing to be greeted by staff that was happy to be there.

Amazing food! True southern cooking. prices are more than fair. Food exceeded expectations. Service was extremely friendly! I hope they stick around, will for sure be back!
Update April 2021: lowered it 1 star because even though the food is amazing! Unfortunately I can’t enjoy it as much as I used to, this is due to the crazy increase in prices and the fact that it’s take out only which means by the time I get it home I get to eat cold food.

Food was delicious, I had the surf and turf cheese steak. Steak was super tender and the shrimp was cooked perfectly. The mac and cheese is outstanding, so much flavor and the pasta isn’t overcooked like a lot of Mac that I have had from other places. I honestly can’t wait to come back try out some more of their dishes.

M&K’s is truly the best there is. I have never had anything that wasn’t anything short of delicious. The burgers and the crab cakes have to be my favorite! Their sides are amazing too. Veggies, mac and cheese, and let’s not forget those sweet potatoes! Great people, huge portions, can’t beat the price, and always fresh.

Well it’s not bad but it wasn’t what the sign says Sexy Food. I had the fried pork chop with seasoned rice and gravy . My side were mac and cheese and sweet potato casserole. The pork chop was large tender but no seasoning but it was tender. Mac and cheese was over cooked and dry. Tasted like I got the last of day scrapings . Now the rice had plenty of seasoning in it. Gravy was thin over top. Sweet potato casserole was sweet but not over sweet. My nephew ate his hamburger and said it was great maybe I’ll go try one of them.

This is a very underrated, hidden gem in the Leland area. Now it can be a little pricey or around the same price as a sit down casual restaurant depending on what you buy, the food is very high quality and well worth the price. The surf and turf plate with tender steak, sweet glazed shrimp with bacon and crab cake was spot on with the best in the area. Do not sleep on this restaurant that is small, you can tell they take pride in their food.
