I’ll be honest, I don’t like to give horrible reviews. But I just couldn’t squeeze out a 2nd star for this restaurant located by the pool in the Renaissance Indian Wells Resort & Spa.
The service was bad, the food took forever, and when it arrived, I wouldn’t even call it tasty.
The restaurant was less than half full, yet our food for a party of 2 took about 1 hr 15 minutes to be served. During that time, we didn’t get one drink refill offered to us.
When the food came, my $50 NY Steak was a gristly mess. I ate about half of it and just left the rest.
A pricey restaurant like this has a few shots at being good.

I was staying at the hotel for a training and decided to try this restaurant during our lunch break. The service was fast! The food was great. Prices are a bit on the high end. We ordered the nachos, Cobb salad, and a southwestern salad. We went back and tried the Turkey sandwich and it was great as well.

Cava is one of the on-site restaurants located at Renaissance Esmeralda Resort & Spa in Indian Wells. It features a terraced deck with views over the outdoor pool and palm trees, and to the mountains. What a gorgeous place to enjoy a meal. Everything I had here over the course of three days was fantastic. The Wet Burrito may not be an appetizing name but this breakfast beauty was amazing, as was the Southwestern Chicken Salad. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Very much recommended.

I’m giving five stars because our waiter, Miguel was an absolute sweet heart! The best service we’ve gotten in a while. He was very nice and recognized us from a previous time we had visited. The food was pretty good, not terrible. My husband’s burger was good, he liked that it wasn’t falling apart but still had adequate Meat and sauce. My son got the butter pasta and thought it was pretty good. My salad was good, I got the date salad and added salmon. Really liked the raspberry sauce on the cheesecake. Thank you Miguel for your great service and thoughtful gestures! You have a heart of gold!

Made reservations for happy hour because the hotel suggested it in case it was crowded. Nope! No customers there so we left. Came back the next day for dinner and sat outside for the atmosphere. We ordered wings (came out cold and old tasting. and sent them back for a redo;(When the new order arrived, it was hot but very dry and overcooked); cauliflower steak (tasted good) and “R Burger” (had it the day before at the pool, however, this time it came to the table over cooked and the fries were cold. We had to get it redone). The Manager never came to apologize. Disappointed.

The steaks were so terrible. Normally I’m not one to send anything back but for 36$ I expected more. We sent back twice and when the chef came out to speak with us he seemed very uninterested and we tried to be as kind as possible. They were so over cooked and had a “dennys like” gravy on top. They tried to compensate and the manager was super kind to us. They gave us a dessert on the house, cream brûlée my favorite and even that was poor quality a maybe 2/10 with lots of sugar on top not even crystallized by the heat. If I come back I definitely will be not eating on site at the hotel.
