There is real Mexican food in Pawnee, Oklahoma.
First of all I am a little biased toward small town mom and pop operations/small businesses that are working to scratch out a living. They don’t always have the newest buildings or furnishings of the big city chain operations. But, if they can put a good meal on the table with reasonably attentive and courteous service then count me in!
Lindo Veracruz did just that. They put a good meal on the table with reasonably attentive and courteous service.
You will get a little chuckle when you see their hand painted “Mexican Restaurant” sign with the arrow pointing across the street to the restaurant. The outside of the restaurant looks a little rough. It is clean inside. The owner had all of the lights and ceiling fans turned off, I guess to save energy. Nothing is wrong with trying to save energy. There was plenty of light coming through the windows (that desperately needed washing). They had a couple of box fans running to keep the air moving and keep the restaurant at a comfortable temperature.
The food was good! Starting with the salsa, it had a nice amount of heat and the flavors were good. My wife had the chicken enchiladas. The chicken in the enchiladas was seasoned and covered with a spicy green sauce. It had great flavors with a little heat. It came with beans and rice.
I had the carne asada. It came with grilled onion slices, beans and rice. I ordered a chili toreado to go with it. When the lady set the plate on the table it came with a table knife, as opposed to a steak knife to cut the steak. I was thinking this is going to be a challenge. But, it wasn’t. The steak was a very thin cut of beef (probably sirloin) cut across the grain. It was easy to cut with the table knife. It was a good average carne asada. I enjoyed it.
If you are looking for other Mexican restaurants in the area, check out my reviews in my collection “Jalapeno Highway” on Yelp. I’ve probably been there.

Good place given that it is the only authentic Mexican restaurant in Pawnee. Nice people. I would say it is less flavorful than a few places in Stillwater. Missed lettuce or onions with my grilled tacos. Preferred the chicken over steak. Salsa is very mild so if that is you thing, it might be the place. Personally, we like a somewhat spicy salsa.

A nice tucked away authentic Mexican restaurant. Located in Pawnee Oklahoma. The food was really good the service was great and the atmosphere was cozy. I do recommend them, stop in and have the enchiladas Supreme, it was quite tasty and as you can see by my completely empty plate that I was satisfied.

Decent street tacos. Otherwise, it would have been a one star review. The rice and beans were at least 3 days old and seemed to have been run through the broiler to long. They were dry, hard and roasted. And the price??? Wow!! Outrageously over priced!! Sorry for the locals who have very limited options.

We were the only people there and the service was terrible. I guess we should have known since no one was there and the lights were off. The queso was lukewarm and the taco salad was a joke. It was a kid sized shell with about 7 small slices of lettus and a pinch of cheese. The meat had no taste and neither did the salsa. Then I was astonished at the price of our lunch too. Comical. Welp, you live and learn. If only you could give no stars.

The Nachos de Cortes were so good! My boyfriend always gets the Allambre with extra tortillas and it is cheesy goodness. I don’t find the tacos to be great. Everything I’ve ever had has been a lot of food for the money.

The food is super great! But the lady over charged me and when i confronted her about it she acted like she couldn’t understand me anymore. I’ve eaten there several time in the past 4 years and gotten the same thing everytime but the price has never been the same.

The quality of the food is decent but the ground beef has no flavor and the lady never rings up my order correct… she changes the price evey single time so I’d watch your bill next time and see how much shes over charging u

Enchiladas Verdes are excellent. The best green sauce I’ve had anywhere, including Stillwater, Tulsa and OKC. It’s got a little kick but not too much. Rice is perfect texture and flavor. Beans are great.
