We visited The 146 for our annual Christmas party for our family business. (8 people, Thursday afternoon)

Service was fantastic – our servers were very cheerful and festive. The holiday decor was festive and bright, I felt like I was dining inside a snow globe.

We shared the cocktail flight of the week, and it was amazing. 10/10 for presentation, and while some drinks weren’t to my taste, the overall experience was very pleasant.

I had the reuben with fresh made chips. It was excellent, and very easy to eat, not sloppy in any way.

My 10 yr old disabled son was my companion, and they were gracious and accommodating to him.

My siblings and I are already planning our next visit to The 146.

I felt this was a pretty average experience across the board. The food and service were both average, nothing really stood out. The atmosphere was different. It seems as if they were trying for an upscale dining experience yet use throw away paper table coverings. The pricing was reasonable.

We came back for a second visit and even brought friends because we’d had a great experience the first time. We told them there might be a short wait, but it would be worth it. We were told it would be about 10 minutes, and although it ended up being a little longer, that wasn’t a big deal. The restaurant didn’t look busy — it was the evening, but there were plenty of empty tables. Our server was friendly and attentive, but we ended up waiting over an hour for our food. We were told the kitchen was backed up, and we tried to be patient, but we’ve never waited that long before. After about an hour and a half, everyone’s food came out except for one friend’s. She received her sides, but her actual meal didn’t arrive until almost two hours after we were seated, long after the rest of us had finished eating. She ended up taking it to go. On top of that, my husband’s sandwich was cold. The fried pickle cheese curds were delicious, but the long wait, the cold food, and one meal arriving extremely late made the experience really disappointing. Our bill was around $80, and I felt embarrassed that our friends had such a poor experience after we recommended the place. Unfortunately, we most likely won’t be returning.

New to the Zanesville area and wanted to discover places to eat other than the popular chain steakhouses and chicken wing establishments.
Googled restaurants and saw 146. Never heard of it. Looked at the menu, interesting. I loved that it wasn’t filled with the same old selections you see repeated from place to place. I was also pleased that the items didn’t sound unappealing due to being too ‘out there’.
Atmosphere was clean and fresh…but no distinct theme to the decor.
The waiter was presentable, friendly and attentive.
It was difficult to decide which meal to try, but I decided on a protein bowl. You select your protein-meat, on rice, with a selection of cheeses, dressings and toppings. I chose the salmon, rice, goat cheese, corn, pico, steamed broccoli, tomato, green onion, and guacamole. Talk about delicious! The salmon was absolutely perfect, and plentiful. All the ingredients were fresh and flavorful. The presentation was really pretty too, lol. I wish I could have eaten it all!
My husband got the bacon, mushroom penne with shrimp and said it was great. Also a decent size portion.
Fresh bread, cold beer and a very reasonable price ensures we will be back to try other items! I would def encourage others to check it out.

Jazz our server was very knowledgeable on the menu and super quick on refills. Loved the atmosphere and music! As a veteran appreciate the soldiers table. The Parmesan encrusted chicken was phenomenal as was the rest of the meal. Our first time here and we will certainly return. Thank you, Tina and Leo

We decided to check this place out. We went Feb 28th a Friday. Was not super busy, no wait to be seated. They had staffing issues in the kitchen…

We arrived around 6:20pm seated immediately.

The server comes to the table around 15-20 mins and and takes our orders.

We were offered some bread, and it came out eventually. I actually figured we wouldn’t get bread before the food arrived. It took a long time. The bread is pretty good.

1 hour into this, drinks long empty. We start paying attention.

There are tons of tables that were seated before us without any food. I’m noticing that no food has really been coming from the kitchen.

When food started coming out, the table behind had been waiting, like 1.5 hours for some burgers. Bugers and fries. I saw some tables starting to ask servers about the waits.

We were about to pay for our sodas and leave, and our waitress said it should be out shortly.

Our food finally came out. I ordered the surf and turf.. steak and scallops, Mac n cheese, and sweet potatoes. Not surprising at all, the waitress was like the sweet potatoes are not done they will be out shortly.

My filet was good, but not oh wow. The scallops were cold. The surf and turf here is $56 bucks. It is not worthy of the $56 dollar mark. I would not recommend this nor order it again. Scallops were removed from the bill. Which was 6 dollars. Leaving the filet and 2 sides at $50. The filet and 2 sides is also not anywhere close to a $50 price tag.

My wife ordered the parmesan crusted chicken. This might be this places saving grace. She ordered it with red smashed potato and Mac and cheese. This dish was amazing, and the price was definitely priced right at $19. I would have felt comfortable paying around $24 or $25 $ for that dish.

The waiting was absurdly long for everything, except being seated. They need to work on pricing and staffing they stated 5 people didn’t come to work in the kitchen. The decor is very nice and the atmosphere was very nice.

We plan to give it another shot as my wife’s dish was very, very good.

We finally got our bill at 7:55pm and received our receipt at 8pm.

When I go to dinner, I’m not trying to hang out for almost 2 hours. Unless it’s a dinner show.

I’m going to give it one more try. If the waiting is anything like this visit, it will be the last time.

Stopped in for lunch at 12:00n. No wait and was seated quickly in a nice cozy booth. Waitress quickly got our drinks and shared some recommendations from the menu. Appetizer shred was the 146 chips, we should have added chicken, but they were okay without the extra added meat. Entree we had the smash burger with bourbon glaze, and chicken penne which was a bit on spicier side but still delicious. Fast friendly service and good food.

Our first time at The 146. What we ate.

Appetizer: Duck wontons, delightful, complex filling, wonderful texture, good sauce. Tip: when serving a sharable, provide a small plate for each person. Appetizer arrived before the bread so using the bread plate wasn’t an option.

Bread: Pumpernickel, warm, soft with a herb olive oil for dipping, perfect!

Entrée 1: Firecracker salmon, paired with Mac&cheese and Duchess sweet potatoes. Salmon was better than expected, not much fire, just a hint. The chef nailed the cook, bravo! Mac&cheese, very good, creamy, balanced, a pleasure to eat. The sweet potatoes were a miss for us; very sweet, and we felt the presentation called for absolutely smooth potatoes, they were not, small chunks were not the expected mouth feel.

Entrée 2: Chef’s surf & turf, paired with mac&cheese and asparagus. The filet was cooked to the exact temperature ordered, seasoning was very light, a touch more perhaps would have been an improvement. Take note of the following. The scallops were clearly on the last day they could be served. I smelled them before arriving at the table. I refused to try them. My wife, a former sous chef, said they were safe to eat, but shouldn’t have been plated. She has a stronger constitution than myself and tried the scallops. The cook was perfect, the texture had degrading from what it should have been; if fresh, she said they would have been very good. The mac & cheese has been covered. The asparagus, we have the second issue with this meal. It is not with the cook or seasoning, both were excellent; it was that the asparagus came out six minutes after the entrée. This brings light to something we noticed the entire meal, everything was arriving a little slower than it should. Drinks were noticable slow, straight pours of wine/beer, nothing fancy.

Summary: Good food, some interesting new options for the area. Chefs that can nail a cook temperature. Some unfortunate freshness and timing issues. Total bill with four adult beverages $130 fair price.

A customer of mine suggested that I have lunch here and to try out a burger. When I walked in and was seated, the table next to me had the salmon with asparagus and it looked so good. I was set on a burger but the pig wings grabb mg eyes as I was glancing over the menu. Then I found there version of crab cakes, lobster cakes and that just made me change my whole meal. The cakes were so moist that I was almost convinced that they just got the lobster out of the ocean and made the dish! The pig wings were also tasty. I ordered the Caesar salad with shrimp and was shocked on the presentation. The salad was full of shrimp and very good.

I’m going have to come back and try more of the menu on a empty stomach cause everything was looking great.
