Food was delicious, but even this white boy from California knows a vindaloo should be fiery and hot. We ordered chicken vindaloo, picked “medium” because always try the medium first, and … nothing? No heat at all. Lovely flavor, great spices, but not a chili pepper in sight. Need to try in person to see if I can convince them to make that dish so hot my head sweats.

Had dinner here with some friends before catching a movie at Grand Lake and we absolutely loved the food. The fish and chicken tikka masala were very flavorful, the lamb saag tasted very fresh and we liked that it wasn’t too mashed up (you can actually feel the texture of the spinach), and the chicken biryani was HUGE in proportion and the chicken was very tender. Mango lassi and the salted lassi were delicious and the service was great. We didn’t try the momos this time but will definitely come back to try in the future.
I don’t think restaurants should be docked stars for lack of attentiveness as it’s not difficult to get their attention when you need it. Food was delicious, portions were massive, and the staff was kind.

Solid, but not life changing, flavors are mildly spiced — reminiscent more of Nepal than India.
Kale Chat, a real winner. Deep fried greens, served atop curried chickpeas, yoghurt and tamarind sauce, topped with crispy noodles — a textural melody and play on hot-and-cold.
Fish Pakora — thinly sliced salmon battered in spiced chickpea flour and deep-fried — makes for a yummy appetizer, with tamarind and cilantro dipping sauces.
Veggie Thukpa, however, a bit lacking in flavor. While curried, the broth a bit simple, the vegetables basic.
Overall, a nice South Asian culinary in Lake Merritt with ample indoor and outdoor patio seating.

Extra delicious Indian food in the heart of Oakland. We had two classics: the chicken tikka masala and chicken vindaloo, both of which were excellent. The curries tasted like they were made with fresh tomatoes, onions, and garlic, and the garlic naan was extra crispy and oily – just right. We also had a mango lassi and the steam chicken momos.
Everything was incredible, maybe some of the best Indian food I have had outside of India itself. If I had one critique it would perhaps be the atmosphere, which s a bit on the modern side, but being from the East coast it sort of reminded me of the kind of open kitchens you see over there. Definitely give this place a visit!

It doesn’t look like much from the outside, but this place was INCREDIBLE. Spice levels were on point — I went with medium and I could definitely feel it but it wasn’t overpowering. The jhol momo was so flavorful, I wanted to sip the broth through a straw. Would go back again.

I had very bad experience with their service. I ordered food thru the catering menu. The person named Raju took order. I never experience such a dishonest and pathological liar before dealing with him. He offered 15% discount worth of extra food value. He wanted 100% cash day before the delivery, which was very unusual. I paid 90% deposit and after many request he gave me hand written slip without the total ordered amount. On delivery day he charged extra $275 without applying any discount and no printed receipt.
My suggestion – DO NOT ORDER CATERINF FOOD THIS PLACE.

I’ve dined once and ordered take out twice. The first two times the food was exceptional- best Indian food I’ve ever had in the Bay Area. I was so excited to have a new spot. Sadly I ordered for the third time on a Wednesday evening and the same food I ordered as before was 2 stars/5. I couldn’t even finish the food. I’m disappointed as there doesn’t seem to be a consistency. I’m not sure I’ll order it again given the vastly different experiences and tastes, at the same restaurant.
