Vegetate quickly became that place for us—the one you discover and then plan your entire day around. It was one of the only vegan restaurants on the island, and it was so good we made the 40-minute drive every single day without hesitation. Worth it. Every time.

Dinner, brunch… repeat. The food is consistently incredible, creative, and deeply satisfying.

And the desserts—truly unhinged in the best way. The banana pudding and chocolate pie are absolute standouts. Pro tip: add the coconut whip to the chocolate pie. This is not optional. This is a life choice.

The service was just as amazing as the food—warm, attentive, and genuinely kind, which somehow made everything taste even better.

If you’re vegan (or just love exceptional food) and you’re in Kauai, make the drive. We did it daily and would happily do it again.

So glad another vegan restaurant opened up in Russell’s old location. It is soooo delicious. Scan QR code to order and pay, our food was delivered in record time, and all the dishes were beautifully plated and yummy. Try their boba drinks…the tropical one was good. The ube pancakes were our favorite…the perfect texture and flavor. And so pretty! We will definitely be coming back. Even if you are not plant based, you will love the food here.

We ate here this morning and will definitely be back. Our brunch was delicious from start to finish. We split the Ranchero, good sized portion. We tried the chai boba. I believe the boba tasted homemade. For dessert, the live chocolate pie. This was very special. The restaurant was very clean throughout, so relaxing, too. Vegan food prepared very well!

Vegetate is a great vegetarian/vegan restaurant (all items are vegan even if it’s not specified on the menu). We got a late breakfast – the banana pancakes and the ube mochi were delicious! They also had a thanksgiving plate and pecan pie. The pecan pie was amazing, so yummy!

Let’s start with the fact that I didn’t want to go to this place. No meat? Why go? But being a good husband, I joined my wife for a meal here. Have to say it was pretty good. The fake bacon is weird. Not even close to the real thing…but that isn’t their claim. It’s apparently made of seaweed and chick peas. Go figure! But the Da Braddah kalo (taro) burger was a pretty good sandwich. Again, it shouldn’t be called a burger…but tasty. Ask for some sriracha sauce. It helps! My wife had the French toast. It was OK. The Mac salad was good. And the chickpea salad too. The chocolate cake was legit.

We’re visiting from Las Vegas, and let me just say… WOW!. So impressed! There’s something incredibly soul satisfying about earthy, nourishing food, and this place delivers that in the most beautiful way.
Every dish tasted fresh, vibrant, and full of life. You can feel the care that goes into the ingredients and the preparation. It’s more than just a meal it’s an experience that grounds you and leaves you feeling amazing, inside and out.
The atmosphere was absolutely stunning, a lush, green garden oasis that made us feel instantly relaxed and connected to nature. It’s the kind of space where you want to slow down, savor every bite, and just be.
What made it even more special was Jessica, the owner, taking the time to come over and talk with us. She was so kind and genuine. It’s clear her heart is in everything this place stands for. That personal touch made the experience unforgettable.
The staff was lovely, the vibes were peaceful, and the food was truly next level. Whether you’re vegan or just craving something real and wholesome, this gem in Kauai is a must.
Already dreaming about our next trip back.

It’s always a relief to find a vegan restaurant when you’re traveling and this one is a real gem! Several different types of dishes and drinks, friendly service, and the seating area feels like a backyard in the jungle. I only wish they were open later in the day more days of the week, I would have gone there for dinner several days if so. Instead I went for breakfast and the tofu poke was just the right level of spicy.

I cannot adequately convey how amazing this place is — my husband & I are not even vegan & this was some of (if not the) best food we have had in Kauai. Incredible flavors & presentation (the owner commented to us that you eat with your eyes before your mouth!). Highly recommend the kale salad, rancheros, ube gnocchi, forbidden risotto, & banana pudding. We can’t wait to go back!

I really wanted to like it but food was rather mediocre. My husband’s soy cappuccino wasn’t very good. The presentation of the musubi was nice but the rice wasn’t seasoned. Sushi rice or musibi rice should be seasoned w rice vinegar and salt. This rice was completely plain and bland. I asked for soy sauce and waitress said they didn’t have any. Banana pudding was okay. Bananas not very ripe. My husband’s French toast was tasty, though. They do mobile ordering via QR code. I ordered a chai latte – waitress said it was out and she would take it off my tab. But it wasn’t taken off. Took some extra work and paying at front desk instead of mobile to not be charged for it.

Vegetate is such a treasure! We had an amazing dinner on our first night in Kapa’a and could’ve easily eaten here every day during our stay. There was so much care and attention put into every dish and my (non-vegan) boyfriend said it was the best meal he had during our time on Kaua’i (and I agree!) 10/10!!!
