The downtown vibes, friendly service, and lively atmosphere make this place a must-visit. It’s always bustling, which just proves how loved it is by the community. Whether you’re here for a casual bite or a night out, Carmen’s delivers every time!
On our recent visit to Carmen’s La Hacienda in Novato, we had another enjoyable experience. Having been there three times over the past eight years, we were happy to find the quality and atmosphere as delightful as ever. We decided to sit outside, taking advantage of the beautiful weather. The outdoor seating was comfortable and offered a relaxed ambiance, perfect for a casual Sunday lunch.
We started with guacamole and chips. The guacamole was fresh and bursting with flavor. I chose a cold Mexican beer while my significant other enjoyed a hibiscus tea.
For my main course, I opted for the Carne Asada plate. The thinly sliced steak was cooked to perfection and packed with flavor. The accompanying refried beans were rich and delicious. My significant other ordered the Quesadilla Suiza, which was generously filled with melty cheese, making for a satisfying and comforting meal.
The service was outstanding. Our server, a young man, was both professional and attentive throughout our visit. His friendly demeanor and prompt service added significantly to our positive experience. This visit solidified why we have returned to Carmen’s La Hacienda. The consistent quality of the food, the pleasant ambiance, and the excellent service make it a top choice for Mexican cuisine in Novato. We left feeling completely satisfied and already looking forward to our next visit.
Omgosh please let me edit this to elaborate: IF you have EVER had authentic tortilla soup as I believe I have had back in San Diego in the 90’s(!) I literally feel like Ive been transported!. If you are under the weather, order it sans sour xream and cheese–but if not, enjoy the infulgence! Either way, this soup will NOT dissapoint!
I must confess I havent ventured beyond the Carmen margarita (one is enough!) and the soup because I am so thoroughly satisfied!
I literally now crave this soup and its a must!
Thank you chef for fresh ingredients & love!
When I found out I had to go back and get some great tacos! The Shelter in Place order had me yearning for some great local dining and Carmens fit the bill. They are nice as always and the food was as good as I had remembered it!
The cool thing is that they served breakfast all day on the weekends! My son got an awesome omelet (it was huge) and I got some tacos (no surprise there) and it was great to be outside in Downtown Novato enjoying the fresh air and great meals.
I had to go back yesterday actually for another dose of great food. If you like great local Mexican dishes, this is your jam!
Edit 05/24/22: Don’t forget the Taco Salad and Tequila! 😛
Edit 11/11/22: Been back several times and it’s still delicious!!!
The service was a little slow, we had to go the counter to pay because the server wasn’t around.
