I stopped by Caribbean Bakery & Mini Mart for dinner and went straight for their oxtail with rice & peas and veggies. The plate was huge, and you could smell the seasoning before it even hit the table. The oxtail was flavorful, tender, and coated in a rich sauce that really pulled the dish together. The rice was fluffy, the peas earthy, and everything had that authentic homemade Caribbean taste.
If I had one wish, it would be for the oxtail pieces to be a little meatier — because the flavor had me wanting more. Portion-wise though, they don’t skimp, and everything tasted fresh.
Service was straightforward, the spot has that local charm, and it’s definitely worth checking out if you’re craving real Caribbean flavor in the area. One heads-up: parking can be tough, especially earlier in the day, so plan ahead.
I’ll be back!

First time going here today, had to drop off someone for a doctors appointment and wanted some good Jamaican food. Upon walking in was met with kind, friendly hospitality from the owners. Order jerk, chicken, rice and peas and cocoa bread and a patty and everything tasted fresh like it was made five minutes before. Taken to account this was 4 PM! This place is 10 out of 10 will be back very soon. Thank you!

This place has excellent food but I wish I could say the same about the service. The woman that served me couldn’t stay focused for the 2-3 minutes it takes to prepare my order correctly and wound up messing up my order.
She was engaging in conversations with customers and staff instead of just making my order and of course she wasn’t paying attention and gave me something I didn’t ask for. It already took her long enough to make my order I just paid without complaining and left. I’m just in shock that she thought it was OK to treat a customer like that.

The lady who helped me was super polite and patient, and even offered me a sample—which you don’t usually get in restaurants. The soup was delicious, with a generous portion for the price and full of flavor. If you ever find yourself in Stamford, CT looking for authentic Jamaican food, this is definitely the spot. Great food, fair portions, and warm service. Highly recommend—check it out!

Please excuse the photo as I started eating it before taking the picture. Long story short, I like this. I ordered fried wings, rice n peas, and cabbage. Food is on point. Perfect amount of spices. Wings are juicy. Service was the best. Thank you to both women behind the counter for their service

I had an great experience here! The staff were friendly and happy to help. I ended up with a jerk pork platter when I heard someone order it ahead of me, great choice! And the beef patties are an absolute must. Would definitely recommend stopping by.

Always a pleasure to visit the restaurant. Been going there for many, many years now. My last order was a small tray of jerk pork. It was unbelievable good. Very tender and nice and spicy. I’ve tried other restaurants, but this one ah di bess. I have never gotten a bad meal there. Give it a try. You won’t regret it.

I went in Thursday morning, 9/5, after dropping my son to the airport, hoping to get Ackee, liver, stew peas… but unfortunately not. The lady working alone in the front was rude and not patient at all. I have driven over a hour on a prior visit because the food IS GOOD and normally lovely help inside. I am only writing this to bring to the attention of the owner, as rude employees are representing you and your business. Again… the food is really good, I will return, but hopefully not have the same person wait on me. And I still tipped. Yes, she held her hand out for that!

I recently purchased some curry chicken from the restaurant, but it looked and tasted more like brown stew chicken. It seems like the chef may be new to cooking as the dish turned out very salty and unpleasant. This isn’t the first time I have ordered from the restaurant and unfortunately, the food doesn’t match the traditional flavors I expect from Jamaican cuisine. As someone familiar with authentic Jamaican dishes, I feel there might be an opportunity for the management to have a discussion with the chef to ensure the food reflects the true taste and quality of Jamaican cuisine.

I was I. The area for a soccer game. I searched for Jamaican restaurants near me and picked this place because of the rating, and I saw that the snapper looked very good in the picture.
In between games I went to the restaurant. I wanted snapper they did not have it. I order stew chicken dinner. It was also done.
I asked what did they have and was given some options. So I decided on one of the options, the stew peas which another customer said to me great choice. When the lady was fishing out the stew peas the other staff took that customer. He also wanted to stew peas and was told that it was done. Only gravy was left which he was okay with it, he wanted it anyway. Made me think this food is really good!
So I got the last of it. I enjoyed the meal and the serving was also good. Some places you pay more for less. So I rate accordingly. The staff was nice and interactive with their customers.
If I am in the area again I would definitely visit again. I would suggest in a weekend go early because I went at 4pm and most of the food was gone.
