You can tell the difference right away. The frog is fresh (not frozen) — big pieces, tender and bouncy, and incredibly flavorful. Frozen frog doesn’t even compare. Portion is a bit small for the price, but it’s so good we wished there was more.
Grilled Fish (pleasant surprise!)
The fish was thick, juicy, and very tender — not dry or over-fried like many grilled fish dishes. The sides were generous (lotus root, potatoes, celery, wood ear mushrooms, cauliflower). We ordered mild spicy, and even kids could enjoy it. Perfect for 2–3 people and great value.
Overall, a very satisfying Sichuan meal — bold, flavorful, and worth the visit.
Came all the way to Tustin just to try the famous frog pot at this spot after seeing it recommended online. As a Bullfrog enthusiast, I had to check it out. The restaurant was pretty busy, with lots of people picking up takeout orders too. We ordered a few dishes, and each one was solid!
Green Peppercorn Bullfrog Hotpot
You’ve gotta try their frog hot pot—it’s a must. The portion is huge, and the frog legs are super tender. The broth has that classic numbing-spicy kick, not too intense but seriously addictive. Loaded with tasty extras like tofu strips, lotus root, potato slices, and wood ear mushrooms.
Osmanthus Longjing Tofu Pudding
I’m officially obsessed. This was SO good! The osmanthus fragrance is amazing, and the tofu is silky smooth. Eating this after the spicy frog pot was a game-changer—cool, refreshing, and totally balanced the heat. I couldn’t stop eating it. If I had the room, I would’ve ordered ten more bowls!
House Special Dumplings
Sweet and spicy, with an all-meat filling. My friend from Chengdu said it tasted just like the real deal back home.
Crispy Potato with Pork Floss
Never had potatoes like this before—what a surprise! The combo of crispy rice crust, soft potato, and savory pork floss is unexpectedly delicious. Don’t skip this one.
If you’re into bold flavors and generous portions, this place is a real find. I’ll definitely be back—maybe next time with a bigger stomach!

Shufeng Kitchen is an authentic Chinese restaurant that truly delivers on flavor. If you enjoy bold, traditional dishes, this is a spot worth visiting.
The highlight for me was the Green Peppercorn Frog. The frog meat is incredibly soft and tender—honestly even softer than chicken—and the green peppercorn spice is addictive. Once you start eating, it’s hard to stop.
The House Special Dumplings are another must-order. The sauce is sweet, spicy, and rich—definitely a flavor bomb and one of their signature items for a reason.
My absolute favorite of the night was the Osmanthus Longjing Tofu Pudding. This might be the best tofu pudding I’ve had in LA. The texture is silky and delicate, paired with a lightly sweet osmanthus syrup that makes the whole dessert taste refreshing and elegant. It was so good that I ordered an extra one to take home.
Shufeng Kitchen is a great place if you’re craving real Chinese flavors with depth, heat, and balance. Highly recommend stopping by.
The tofu in the broth was so flavorful too.
Also loved the Zhong dumplings and baby potatoes the owner recommended — tasted just like night-market snacks.
My partner couldn’t stop praising the food.
Highly recommend Shufeng Kitchen if you’re into bullfrog dishes!
The bullfrog hot pot is a must — super clean frog meat, tender and flavorful, with a spicy broth that’s fragrant not greasy. We added tofu skin, duck blood, veggies — portions are huge.
Braised pork rice unexpectedly great — rich, savory, perfect for kids.
Sichuan cold noodles are bright, tangy, numbing — super refreshing.
If you’re craving real Sichuan flavors, this spot delivers. Highly recommend.
Loved the Zhong Dumplings — soft skin, flavorful filling, and just the right amount of chili oil. The Tofu Pudding was silky and refreshing, perfect after something spicy.
Fast service, clean place, and overall really good value. Will definitely come back!
Just have to call this place hidden — you can’t even find their Instagram, and there’s no fancy design.
But it’s seriously underrated. Every dish feels like something grandma would make for a family dinner spread
Look at the sour soup beef(酸菜牛肉湯) — so much beef, the kind of portion that says, “Eat more, don’t starve.” There’s also beef shank(牛腱) and braised pork rice(滷肉飯 ). Big portions and kid-friendly.
For dessert: osmanthus tofu pudding(桂花豆腐花) — simple, special, and full of that “grandma’s love” comfort.

Red Chili Zhong Dumplings
The wrappers are freshly made—chewy, springy, and perfect. The chili oil flavor is spot-on, and the signature flat shape helps them soak up all that fragrant, slightly sweet red oil. The broth is super aromatic. Honestly, one order didn’t feel like enough!
Sichuan Cold Noodles
The noodles have great bite and really hold onto the sauce. The seasoning is just right—beyond the chili oil aroma, there’s a subtle tangy sweetness. The bean sprouts and cucumber make it feel refreshing instead of heavy.
Bullfrog Hot Pot
A huge portion, with truly authentic Sichuan flavors. Tons of ingredients—lotus root, potato slices, wood ear mushrooms, even old-style tofu that really soaks up the broth. The bullfrog is tender, and the spice level isn’t overwhelming. They keep it warm over a small flame so it stays hot the whole time.
Sweet & Sour Spicy Potatoes
Crispy on the outside, soft and sticky inside, coated in a plum-flavored sweet-and-sour glaze. Sprinkled with chili powder that adds aroma more than heat. Really well balanced.
Osmanthus Longjing Tofu Pudding
The tofu pudding is silky like a custard and practically melts in your mouth. The Longjing tea pairs beautifully with the tofu, and the combo of floral tea aroma + osmanthus honey is genuinely stunning. ✨
