One of the best Freighthouse Square restaurants with a variety of Mexican dishes.
The food is good, portion sizes for the protein options are a little small but made up for by the big side dishes.
Staff was quick and helpful when ordering and during the meal. The drink options may be pricey but the free water was good consolation with how spicy the sauces are.
The place offers both a sectioned off bar area as well as having several tables in front inside of the Freighthouse proper, though it can get a bit loud at times. Regardless there’s still that charm of the place.
A good value for some quick Mexican fare, definitely worth checking out.

I was craving some tacos & came across this place while in the area. It’s located along the strip with several other restaurants. I ordered three street tacos with carne asada, they were quite delicious & the meat was seasoned nicely. As you can see from the photo, they were generous with the amount & it was great! I also ordered a medium chicken burrito to-go (not pictured) & that was pretty solid as well. The guy said their wet burrito is one of their popular dishes so I’ll definitely try that out next time!

Just ate here with my wife and we ordered a mango margarita and one order of tamales and it came out to 20$. We asked how many tamales come in a order and were told it comes with 2. After receiving our order, the margarita came in a red solo cup with too much ice even though we saw other tables with an actual glass margarita cup and the “tamales” looked like one tamale ripped apart to look like 2. Very dishonest and I would not recommend.

Honestly, it was bland taste and presentation wise. Ordered 2 chicken flautas, a order of taquitos dorados, steak dinner. My flautas were soggy at the bottom and rolled poorly bc it unraveled when I went to pick it up to bite it. It being wet & soggy played a part in that as well. Lettuce was wet and withered away. The taquitos were fried with a flour tortilla but wasn’t fried hard enough bc the sauce put on after made it soggy as well. The steak wasnt bad just can tell there was no seasoning added to it.

DO NOT have the sopes here! They buy the dehydrated ones you can buy at the store and then they must cook it in the deep fryer which makes it super greasy and crunchy and not what a sope is suppose to be at all. Couldn’t even finish it.

I can get 5 tacos and a drink from a nearby taco truck for under $15, here 2 tacos and a drink costs nearly $20. Needless to say I will not be back. When I was astonished at the price of the drink all she said was “it’s expensive in Seattle” we are in Tacoma… it makes sense in Seattle because they pay double the rent that you do here in Tacoma, and the minimum wage is higher so they have to pay their workers more.

Great food, good price point, fresh. Hearty amount. Love the feel & vibes of the place. I will definitely go back. I got the carnitas tacos, it was delicious. I was visiting from out of town and will definitely go out of my way to eat there again next time I come through!!

We’ve lived in the Tacoma area for almost 6 years (2 lost to Covid) and have struggled to find an authentic Mexican meal. Learned that the recipes have been in the family for generations; they use absolutely nothing but fresh ingredients. One visit and we’re regulars from now on!

I had a very disappointing experience at this Mexican restaurant. The staff, particularly the person in charge, had a terrible attitude and the business practices are misleading. They display a price on their menu, but when you place your order, they ask if you want certain toppings without ever mentioning that each one has an additional cost. They conveniently omit this information, and you only find out when the bill comes that your meal is double or even triple what you expected.
To make matters worse, when I questioned the price, the employee scolded me, lecturing me about the high cost of living in this country, as if trying to imply that I was being stingy. This couldn’t be further from the truth. I have no issue paying $100 for a dish as long as it’s sold to me honestly, without tricks or hidden fees. What I can’t tolerate is being taken for a fool.
Judging by other reviews, I’m not the only one who has experienced this. It’s a real shame for the restaurant because customers will visit once and never return, and certainly won’t recommend it to others. I hope they change their sales tactics to be more honest. If I order a basic dish because it seems affordable, the employee could have offered an upgrade for an additional cost, and I could decide whether I want to pay for it. Instead, they offer toppings that are supposed to be included with the dish without giving you the price, and then hit you with a hefty bill. This is not the way to do business.
As advise be careful about the prices. The price shown on the menu might be different from what appears on your bill. Make sure to ask about any price changes whenever they offer you something while you’re placing your order.”
