I paid $13.99 for the Reuben. It used to be hefty and piled high with meat, sauerkraut, and that spicy, delicious sauce. The fries were long, piping hot, and came with a pickle wedge on the side. It was plated like someone cared.
What I got Saturday was dry, bland, and had very little meat. It felt thrown together. The fries were short, hard, cold, and completely unseasoned. When we tried salting them, the salt literally fell off. People at the table ended up salting their ketchup just to get through a few of those munchkin fries. I even had to hunt for the pickle under them.
My husband ordered the Philly cheesesteak special. It came with processed orange cheese instead of something you would expect like provolone or white American. His fries were the same.
It actually became comical at our table. Every plate had the same short fries. Not a long one in sight. At one point someone held one up and said, “Hey, I got a long one… at least two inches.” That is how noticeable it was.
When a place changes hands, people understand things can shift. But the drop in quality is obvious. All seven of us left disappointed, and we all agreed we would not be back.
Edit : We went back and I tried the fajita combo chicken and steak and wasn’t disappointed omg it was delicious.. so much food I took it home and had lunch the next day all for $15.00. Do yourself a favor and take drive and enjoy the view get some delicious food.
The service was fine, nothing overly special. No problems, the server was quick, and attentive but flat. I don’t think she smiled once. She may have been having a bad day, but it didn’t seem like that. She didn’t seem tired either, just simply bored. Not that I require bubbly customer service, but even just a hint of an attempt at a smile would have helped.
The food was slightly burnt, not burnt to the point of inedible, but just past charred and just before it fully hits the smelling burnt stage. My wife’s salad was wilted, and came out less than ten seconds after we ordered it. Long delays for salad aren’t good either, but that quick and wilted is a bit odd. My son’s grilled cheese sandwich was nothing special, slightly burnt on one side and reasonably melted.
I still give it a 4, given that we have had great service and fantastic food in the past. If we go back soon and the food/service stays the same I’ll downgrade to a 3, but it definitely isn’t a 2 or a 1. It didn’t make us sick, or nauseous, or even queasy, but there was a wow factor missing that used to be there.
My bacon sandwich was fine, a little chewy for the hamburger, but probably because it also had a bit too much char to it as well.
