We arrived for dinner and we were immediately greeted by a hostess and seated. Our waiter was friendly and we got a complementary pre appetizer from the chef. The food was exceptional and we loved how you could order all 3 courses for one price and at once. I especially recommend the Slow Braised Angus Short Rib, the puréed parsnips were the best I’ve ever tasted. At the end, they gave us all a free cookie. Overall, I think this place is perfect for a relaxing and enjoyable night out.

The Old Inn On The Green has a truly charming atmosphere — historic, elegant, and full of character that makes it feel like a special dining destination. The setting alone is worth the visit. The food and service, however, were both average and felt like they didn’t quite live up to the promise of such a beautiful space. With some refinement in both areas, this could easily be one of the finest dining experiences around.

After reading all the great reviews, my husband and I decided to try The Old Inn On The Green Restaurant for Christmas Eve dinner. I’m not sure if last night was an off night, but our experience was quite disappointing. Upon being seated, I was surprised by the menu and price, which was completely different than what was posted on their website and what we were expecting.

The week leading up to our dinner, I had been checking the website to see if there was a special menu. The only one listed was their normal pre fix menu and price. Both my husband and I were looking forward to items that were on that menu.

Sadly instead of that menu, they presented us with a very limited pre fix menu with options that weren’t very appealing to either of us, along with a price increase.

At this point, I should’ve said something but the restaurant has a $50 pp cancellation fee and I was concerned we’d be charged if we left. Also it was almost 9pm.

Unfortunately, we decided to stay. The initial disappointment about the menu, could’ve been assuaged had the food been amazing. But it wasn’t. There was nothing special about the food. It was bland to mediocre. At the price point of $350 for 2 people (we each had 1 drink), the food better be special!

When I asked to speak with the manager (Eric) as to why the special menu and price increase weren’t listed on the website, he told me “as grateful as he was to have us dining with them, that we shouldn’t even have been allowed in that night.” What?? He went to say that “he didn’t know how we got a reservation because they had been booked for months.” Talk about gaslighting!

The fact that I made a reservation through their reservation system has nothing to do with the restaurant’s neglect to be transparent about the menu and price change on their website. Had I seen their limited Christmas menu, I never would’ve made the reservation.

We’ll never return and can’t recommend this restaurant. The 2 stars are for the ambience and service. Both were lovely. But not enough to make up for the ridiculously high price for such mediocre food.

We were absolutely overwhelmed with the 5 course dinner and wine tasting, from beginning to end. By far the best food and wine pairings we’ve ever experienced. Look forward to dining with them in the future.

This has been the highlight of our Berkshires weekend gateway! A far away restaurant but definitely worth the trip. The building itself is a charming and cozy American inn decorated with lots of barrels and wooden, stylish design. My favorite touch was the fact that our candlelight dinner was served outdoor, adding to an already excellent atmosphere. Service was not notch. You can feel that everyone was enjoying the meal and all the waiters and bartenders really take pride in their skills. Regarding the food – They obviously put a lot of thought into the menu. All the dishes we tried were marvelous. It’s a 3 courses menu, with one appetizer, one main, and one dessert l. We got the salmon and cod as main dishes, with burrata and lobster pasta as first course. Everything was right on point and the drinks were also amazing. We really enjoyed the time and would love to visit again. Great job, thank you guys.

One of the few remaining total candlelight restaurants in MA. Old Inn on the Green is historic and romantic, with outstanding service and cuisine. Great experience.

Amazing food. Excellent service. Wonderful job on social distancing. You HAVE to go. A gem in the Berkshires.

Great meal last night. We went for my wife’s birthday with our whole family. The eight of us ate in the private dining room for large parties. They continue to deliver an outstanding meal. Without a doubt one of our favorite special event destinations.

This place is a definite gem. We’ve been going there for years, the first time being during a huge nor’easter in the early 1990’s, when we were the only ones staying at the inn because it quickly became inaccessible! We were stranded there for 4 absolutely unforgettable days and nights. Imagine that experience with the wind howling and nothing but candlelight on the main floor (which is still the case today, giving it its unique charm) and the smell of soup simmering in cauldrons wafting out from the kitchen. Definitely go here. The food and service is amazing.

As it it isn’t easy to visit with really high expectations

First the website state 4 course dinner is 75 while at the restaurant it were only 3 (an amuse is no course!) for 75
amuse overall was really disappointing

There was a bread plate and knife from the beginning however we had to ask for the bread.

The goat cheese starter had little cheese (more bread under making it look bigger)
The duck liver was delicious

The rack of lam was amazing!!
The duck was ok

Cheese platter was good.

The sommelier was excellent and was able suggest or find a good match for each dish or our wish.

The candle light experience? A gimmick not really our thing

I hope this helped
