An amazing modern Chinese food restaurant that offers a bit of everything for everyone. I found this place by word of mouth up here in walnut, and everyone raved about the food and the entertainment. We ordered a few appetizers, and ordered a few of their specialty drinks (they have so many great choices). The appetizers are perfect sized for sharing, and the outdoor atmosphere makes it a relaxing find. The food prices are completely reasonable and their service is amazing, checking on you through the evening. Their nighttime has karaoke and some musicians, so they have plenty to offer all week long. A great place to check out!

Just door dashed an order for about 45$…. littherally got three microscopic portions of food… you could barely fit a fortune cookie in the box this came in… I’m ok with paying 45 bucks for Chinese food… but literally the boxes this food came in was insulting. Absolutely a trash move by this company, 0 respect for customers. Will not order from there again. Hope to see them out of business soon.

It was extremely dark, with a central fire that was put on full power and felt like it was burning us. We ordered at 6:30 when we arrived and it is now 8:15 at the time of writing the review. Half our table still hasn’t received food and they have brought other tables food to our table several times now. Unacceptable and I will be asking for a refund and likely never returning.

It was a great pace to hang out with colleagues. We had a baby shower at this location and they staff was very friendly and prompt for any needs. The check too was not that expensive. Nice place with an affordable prices. Happy hour is a great choice.

I really enjoyed the food. My friend and I ordered a variety of different things. My favorite is their pork fried rice and their orange chicken. Yum.
I was pleasantly surprised because they also had a dj playing music while we were eating. He was awesome. The music was a smidge too loud but I loved it. Because the restaurant got so packed, out waitress was taking longer and longer to tend to us. That’s about the only downfall and their cocktails weren’t the greatest but that’s not a big deal to me at least.

Keep in mind that people will get up and start dancing, so be prepared for that… I definitely recommend to go and experience it.

First-time trying Modern China. After a busy day of berry picking at Brentwood, my friend and I searched for a place to eat and landed here. We got here around 4pm and the place was empty. They did have a couple of loud customers at the bar area. The roast duck fried brown rice we ordered was soo delicious, a must try if you like duck. It had the right amount of duck and also pineapple. We also had the mango chicken, which was also great. Besides mango, the dish had Jacima. It was a delicious surprise, I would have never thought to add Jicama to a dish. I’ve only had Jicama in salads or eaten it by itself with shrimp paste. The place was not crowded at all because Will definitely come back when I’m in the area.

Came here for my birthday celebration and left disappointed and annoyed. I chose this restaurant for my special day, but it quickly became a regret. Service was extremely slow, no one acknowledged my birthday, and I had to repeatedly flag down the waiter just to place a drink order. It took over an hour to receive my wonton soup and the rest of my food, and when it finally arrived, it wasn’t even hot.

What bothered me most was the lack of attention. The owner walked past my table multiple times to attend to another party celebrating a birthday, yet never once stopped at mine even though we were a party of 11 also celebrating a birthday. I was told they were short “two waiters,” but somehow multiple staff were tending to the other birthday group while my table was skipped entirely.

Overall, it was a very disappointing experience for what was supposed to be a special night.

I have been to Modern China Cafe a number of times and I have always had a great experience every time I come. Whether it’s for their all day happy hour special, their yummy desserts, or the late night drinks offered — the atmosphere in this restaurant is comforting and something to be enjoyed with friends and family! They offer heated lamps outside for chillier nights and umbrellas for outdoor seating in the day as well. Check it out and you won’t regret it!

We had a 9:00 p.m. reservation, but due to the party before us running over, we were not seated until 9:45 p.m. I initially ordered the Kung Pao Chicken, but it was removed from the table due to my dissatisfaction. The texture of the chicken was rubbery and dry, and the sauce was overly sweet with no noticeable spice.

After the dish was removed, I ordered the Chicken Fried Rice, Orange Chicken, and Walnut Prawns. Unfortunately, none of these dishes met my standards. I can honestly say that frozen Chinese entrées from Trader Joe’s taste better.

Save your money and time—you would be better off purchasing Trader Joe’s entrées at home, or going to Panda Express if you want to dine out.

I ordered this on doordash, first time trying it. Only one of the things I ordered was good. The sushi was not good. I’m not sure what the chicken meal I got was called but I would definitely order that again. Pot stickers were not good. The dessert was just ok and spring rolls were just ok.
