My wife and I have eaten at Kyoto several times here in tupelo and have always enjoyed it. Somewhat hidden in a back shopping center off the main road, but well worth the find. We usually get a Bento box for lunch, but from time to time we get the shrimp or chicken tempura appetizer and fried rice and share as it is plenty for 2 people. The crab rangoon appetizer is always a must for us, and i like the dark ginger sauce on those. The tanginess mixed with the cream cheese center in ver good. My wife is a yum yum sauce person and enjoys their version very much. The ginger dressing on the salad is just ok, but not the worst I have ever had. The interior could use a little touch up in my opinion, but we’ve never had bad service or bad food. Definitely one of our go to restaurants when we are wanting asian food.

I was so disappointed honestly. It was my Grandson first time to habachi, I had the camera ready to watch his face in amusement.
There was ZERO SHOW, only tossing egg into people’s mouth. He literally just cooked as if we weren’t there. Maybe he felt sick, idk. The rice was good, the sauce was watered down so much it didn’t give the rice hardly any added flavor. The veggies was pretty much a lot of onions and a few other veggies.
I felt like I could have gotten better habachi at the China buffet.

Our first experience dining in (last week) was very good. Our server was professional and friendly and made sure my mushroom allergy was well-noted. I was able to enjoy everything!
I ordered the lobster hibachi dinner and my darling husband ordered the steak & shrimp hibachi dinner combo. They’re was so much food, we were able to take some home! Which was great because it’s a bit pricey. And the quality and amount of food matched the price.
Sooo…after such a great experience, we went back, tonight, for take-out.
Unfortunately, this experience wasn’t nearly as pleasant. The food I could eat, tasted good (cold, a bit too saucy, but good enough). The soup had mushrooms in it, so I couldn’t eat it. And I love soup, so I was very disappointed. We could only eat part of one salad as jald of one and all of the other had old wilted leaves in it.
To make things more disappointing after paying more than $60 for just 2 dinners, we received much smaller portions of everything.
So not only could we not eat everything we ordered because my mushroom allergy was ignored, salad old and yucky, but the portions were much smaller.
This time, we didn’t get much of what we paid for.

The whole restaurant had a very strong cleaning fluid smell and the floors were sticky. It was also freezing. The sushi was fine.

The waitress, Jessica was forgetful, half asleep, charged me 8$ for shrimp could be the price but then claimed that the restaurant forces an 18% gratuity on parties one or more. Yes, ONE OR MORE! So I spent 43 dollars for just lunch, and 7$ was a forced undeserved tip. So definitely don’t recommend!

Went to dinner here with family. There was 7 of us and we had a table to ourselves. Service was horrible, we had to ask for things 4 or 5 times, we had to beg for refills, the next table also never received refills so we offered them some of our pitcher of tea we asked for lol. The food was lacking any sense of seasoning, it was all overcooked from the shrimp to the filet. Chef slapped around his spatula for 30 seconds, lit the grill on fire for 5 seconds, and that was the end of the show even with 3 kids at the table. Mandatory 18% gratuity also for anyone eating at grill table. Tip should have been 0 in all honesty. Overall we had a horrible experience and will NOT return. 1/5stars, do NOT recommend.

Chicken was fresh and juicy, rice was excellent quality and flavorful. The hibachi veggie was great. Ginger dressing was not overpowering and it accented the salad. Restaurant is Clean and Classy. Our new go to for Japanese.

Kidd and Mary are the best ! They have became like family over the years . We go to Kyoto’s faithfully the whole staff is nice and they know us by name , to me the other hibachi place in town doesn’t even compare to the service and food you receive at Kyoto’s !

Excellent food. Friendly attentive staff. Kudos to having no issues modifying the menu item to suit a picky kid. Children demolished their entrees. Excellent sushi and cold beer.
