Next time, we will have to try to save some space in our stomachs for dessert because one grandson fancies the fried ice cream and the other the sopapillas or flan.
We did not try anything from the bar but from the other tables I could hear compliments for the margaritas, wide selection of beers and Tequilas.
The building has undergone a significant facelift and the decor is modern Mexican with pretty pops of color and a lively dining room full of families and happy diners and a good sized bar with a nice backstage view into the spotless, very well run kitchen.
We will be returning often and sending our friends to support this fun new restaurant run by a great local young couple and their friend/business partner. The pride and love is evident in every corner of this cool but comfortable place.
Photo: Ceviche served with lime and avocado. Absolutely delicious!
Everyone working here was so friendly, and you can truly tell they put their heart and soul into this place. The food was amazing. I ordered the chicken and steak fajitas, and they were delicious — and the beans might be the best I’ve ever had. I could easily eat five more bowls of just those beans.
Prices were totally reasonable too.
We’re so excited to finally have a restaurant in town that tastes this good. Thanks for creating such a cute place with delicious food. We’ll definitely be back!
We grabbed takeout since it was our last night in the area, and even boxed up, the food absolutely delivered. I ordered the Pollo Asado, which came with rice, beans, and tortillas. The chicken was incredibly juicy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked — honestly impressive considering it sat in the container for about 15 minutes during the drive back to our Airbnb. It still tasted fresh and delicious, which says a lot about the quality of the food.
My boyfriend had the Chicken Enchiladas Verde, served with rice, lettuce, and sour cream. He couldn’t stop talking about how good they were. The enchiladas were packed with flavor, and the chicken was noticeably juicier than most enchiladas he’s had in the past. The verde sauce was spot on and tied the whole dish together beautifully.
Beyond the food, the service truly stood out. I have allergies to pork and beef, and the staff took this very seriously. They went back into the kitchen to double-check and ensure my meal was cooked safely, which gave me total peace of mind. That level of care and attention is something you don’t always find and is deeply appreciated.
If we weren’t traveling from Pennsylvania, this would absolutely be a regular spot for us. El Charro Bar and Grill is one of those hidden gems that reminds you not to judge a restaurant by its location. Fantastic food, excellent service, and a place we’d return to in a heartbeat if we’re ever back in the area.
Highly recommend stopping in — you won’t regret it.
The only complaint I have is the atmosphere. The place is covered in very noticeable AI art. It gives the place an air of inauthenticity. For how much these massive prints of AI art cost I have to imagine they could have gotten a real artist to do pieces for them or gotten prints from a real artist. Real art would vastly improve the energy of this place because as of now there’s a real uncanny valley thing going on. The last time I was in Joel Olsteen was playing on the tvs. I don’t know if they just didn’t notice when he came on or what. But he’s a real killer when you’re trying to enjoy a Sunday afternoon beer. Thankfully I had my headphones and could just up the volume on my podcast and ignore the awful televangelist on the tvs.
My complaints on the atmosphere aside I really like this restaurant. I intend to keep going back and I’m thrilled there’s a local place that has some phenomenal Mexican food.
Friendly suggestion: the lights are VERY bright. I think turning the lights down or changing them to a warm white would make the atmosphere more inviting. It was like eating in an operating room.
