The pork in the ramen is cooked beautifully, with fat that simply melts in your mouth.
The clam ramen soup is rich and satisfying, and it comes with plenty of clams. However, a few of them had a slightly sandy texture, and some broken shell fragments made chewing a bit challenging.
Hinodeya in Campbell is a cozy and authentic Japanese-style spot. I really liked their fast service and the concept of ordering everything through their app — it makes the process super smooth. The sake flight was great!
However, the food wasn’t as flavorful as I expected. The Takoyaki had too much batter and not enough octopus, and the texture was a bit too soft with mild flavor. I also ordered the Spicy Miso Ramen — based on the photo, I thought the broth would be thicker and spicier, but it was quite light and not very spicy at all.
Service was friendly, prices were fair, but seating and parking are limited since the place mimics a small ramen shop like you’d find on Tokyo Ramen Street. If you’re coming with a group, I recommend carpooling and arriving early — it fills up quickly.
Overall, a nice experience, but I’d give it 3 out of 5 stars.
By the way, parking spaces are limited.
Please get real waiters versus phone ordering. I will not go again because of this. I actually liked the atmosphere… Very Japanese and the food was good but as I said – if I have to order through a phone and pay BEFORE I am even finished… No thx. Don’t like this system at all
The ramen here is the star of the show and is very tasty. The experience starts with a flavorful broth that is rich and satisfying—it’s the kind of broth you want to finish every last drop of. Paired with tasty noodles that have just the right chew, and a good amount of veggies to round out the bowl, the main dish is deeply comforting and well-balanced.
We also highly recommend trying the fritters. They were good on their own, but here’s a pro tip for maxing out the flavor: dip them into the ramen broth! This move adds an incredible textural and savory boost, making them an essential side order.
Overall, Hinodeya Ramen is a must-visit for serious ramen lovers. Ignore the low-key setting and focus on the steaming, delicious bowls of perfection they serve up.
Appetizers were hit or miss. Takoyaki (octopus) was awesome. Edamame was a little under salted. Shisheto peppers were perfectly done.
Good beers including Asahi Super Dry although wish they were chilled more.
Good portions.
Prices not low but I felt they were reasonable – about $20 for a big bowl and around $6 for appetizers and beer.
Cons :
– Long waits during evenings – use yelp to book a table online. They’ll only seat you if everyone in your party is there
– Parking is hard to find in their lot so you have to wander about nearby to find it
– Seating is a bit industrial – cramped and uncomfortable . They have patio seating too
– Noise level on the high side
– Menu and ordering is using QR codes – you need to use your phone to order and pay first!
Considering the quality of the food, the price and portions it’s absolutely worth a visit. I enjoyed many s evening there!
