My husband and I had the pleasure of dining here last Wednesday! Alana made the experience so special for us. Her kind, expert, and friendly service was the highlight of our stay at Ojai Valley Inn. Our courses included delicious salad, bolognese, branzino, steak, and spectacular desserts. Alana went above and beyond to offer a special drink option I inquired about that was not on the menu. We loved sitting on the balcony with the beautiful sunset views. Members of the staff made our dinner at Olivella comfortable and special! Bravo!

I’m a professional hotelier and restaurateur, owner of a 5-star resort in Asia, Plantation Bay, “a Real Resort with a Real Spa”.

The food at Olivella was competent but not good enough to justify a $150 table d’hote menu and a $50 surcharge for caviar on cream (which I opted for, and at least it seemed to be good American caviar).

A strip steak was cooked sous vide, which to my mind destroys the whole point of a steak – the char flavor from a live fire.

As dessert, a stewed apple was (I think) described as a deconstructed tarte tatin. It was a stewed apple.

Fabulous . What a great evening at this lovely restaurant. The service was superb . We asked to change our table twice, yet they were so nice. The food was delicious. Great pastas, delicious chicken, and steak. Yummy desserts and the bread was heavenly.

Had a wonderful dinner for two at Olivella last night. The service was personable and warm, we were very impressed with our server Keegan. I have dined at Olivella many times but last night what stood out was the care of the staff. Will return again!

We were celebrating my wife’s birthday at OVI with friends who had flown in from around the country. The team at Olivella could not have done better for her – and us. Service was impeccable – win selection is terrific and the knowledge of local wines is great. But the food – extraordinary. Everything. This is a well-travelled and well-fed crowd, and everyone was beyond happy with the food and experience.

Nothing was bad, but nothing was good. The staff is very kind, friendly, and welcoming. The food is absolutely subpar for the price. No item stood out at all as stellar. The mushrooms were strange and the dessert we ordered (milk and honey) was also odd. I’m not picky typically, but would not return here.

We’ve been loyal guests of the Inn for years and have even hosted multiple events here. This year, we chose to celebrate my husband’s birthday at Olivella, making a reservation months in advance. When we arrived—dressed up, excited, and with our peaceful 6-month-old baby asleep in his stroller—we were shocked to be turned away because of our child. The manager claimed our baby would “ruin the ambiance,” which felt incredibly dismissive and discriminatory.

Even more upsetting, other staff later told us this was a blanket policy meant to prevent disruptions from misbehaving children—but that exceptions are often made. Ours was clearly a situation where an exception made sense. Instead, the manager was cold, unaccommodating, and entirely inflexible.

To make matters worse, we were told the grandparents should wait with the baby at the bar while we dined alone. That’s not just unhelpful—it’s insulting.

It’s deeply disappointing that a resort branding itself as family-friendly would treat loyal guests this way. This experience was upsetting, embarrassing, and a stark contrast to the warm hospitality we’ve come to expect. We’ll be seriously rethinking future visits and event plans at this property.

We went here for dinner for my wife’s birthday. We were blown away by the beauty of the property and just how genuine the people who work here are. Normally fine dining is a little stuffy or robotic but everyone was so nice and very real. The food was so incredible. Every course was absolutely perfect.

What an amazing dining experience. Four course tasting menu w/ cocktails and a bottle of wine. The pasta dishes were absolutely insane, the ambiance was magical and the service was 5 star. A must hit if looking for a great dining experience in Ojai.

Olivella is a beautiful extension of Ojai Valley Inn’s elegance and charm. The rustic vibe is right up my alley – loved the decor and table settings!
We came here in celebration of my sisters birthday and had such a great experience. My only criticism is that we were encouraged to opt for the 5 course meal as we were told that the portions were very small. They were full size portions, and it was so much food, we had to tap out!
That said, the menu was well balanced for the veggies and the meat and fish eaters of the group.
Remember to bring your appetite and wallet because this meal will fill you up and set you back! But in the end you will feel your money was well spent and certainly that your belly is very very full.
