First time having yaki — it’s like hot pot that is a bit too dry and needs more broth. I got the pork yaki and the meat was a bit tough. Their sashimi was super fresh tho. Overall food was still delicious, but I think there are better meals in Hakuba!

This was our first meal in the central Hakuba area and it did not disappoint! We also got the lovely surprise of being treated to some tasting from a Nagano Food Festival.
The food was unreal and the service quick and lovely. Would recommend for anyone wanting a traditional experience that feels high end but still affordable.

Underrated Japanese restaurant which serves traditional, comforting and tasty Japanese food. The restaurant showcases the Yamabuki miso paste so if you’re looking for Japanese food that is a little different from (and healthier than) the fried chicken and pork katsu curries, shabu shabu and ramen dishes at all the other restaurants in Happo-One, then this is definitely worth adding to your trip. The signature miso stew (with meat and veggies) served with rice and a pork soup is really satisfying and delicious. I came a second time and tried the salad and Hamburg steak which were also really good. The restaurant if frequented by locals and the staff are really friendly, so nice chilled vibes.
