After this horrendous experience, we drove to Agave Cantina Mexicana, where the service was excellent and welcoming from the very beginning. I do not recommend this place at all—avoid it at all costs.
The only downfall would be that although we made reservations prior to our outing; we still had to wait about 35 minutes before our group was seated. There weren’t many tables, so we had to wait for a group to finish their meal and pay before we could be seated. So I would say plan ahead in case you have to wait like we did if you go on the weekend as a group of 5+.
But we couldn’t ask the server who was M.I.A. For our 20 minute dining experience to fix or change anything! Or get something else!
For appetizers: we got the elotes which had no seasoning and just barely sprinkled with tajin. Very much would’ve disappointed any Elotero. Had more cheese than anything on them. We also got chips and queso fondue—which the only part that was good was the burnt cheese at the bottom of the small skillet. That was the only burnt/cooked/flavorful item on our table. Chips were unsalted too.
For meals: carnitas tacos which were bland and meat was not seasoned. The tortilla itself tasted like it was undercooked. Even the onions on the tacos did not taste seasoned or like how an onion should taste like.
Chicken sopes was my dish and the chicken was also bland and not seasoned. In addition, the chicken was very very chewy like old with some pieces and I got an undercooked piece too (especially fun eating at 36 weeks pregnant). I couldn’t even eat a quarter of one sope. It had too much lettuce on it and the beans were also bland.
When the server finally got back to the table; after noticing my husband had pushed his plate far away from him; she asked if we needed any boxes and we declined. She asked if we didn’t like the food as she proceeded to take plates away. And we said no we didn’t. She said yeah I get that a lot that the meat has no flavor after asking him about the carnitas tacos.
She didn’t try to get a manager or rectify anything.
Horrible service.
Horrible drinks.
Horrible food.
Ambiance was okay.
Music was stupid loud but decorations were pretty. Just goes to show anyone get buy a restaurant and make it look nice but then not fix the real problems with it.
And half the staff were on their phones texting or talking to each other.
$100 wasted but at least we know why this place won’t last.
