The employees were very helpful. Everything was very clean. We sat at the front window and watched the world go by. This historic building had a cool vibe inside.
I believe it is a veteran owned business and extend a discount to veterans.
From the warmest welcome as you walk in the door, to the delicious food! The Reuben sandwich is my absolute favorite, as well as The Junction pizza! Oh, and the cauliflower crust is amazing as well! The wings! The desserts! I can’t choose just one thing!
The owners are all bright lights in a world that needs more like them.
Check it out. You won’t be disappointed!
As someone who loves to see small businesses thrive, I believe there are some improvements the store could implement. My family stumbled upon this store nearly a year and a half after it opened despite living nearby. I wish the store would increase its advertising to expand its customer base, especially those who live across the state line and may not go through downtown Cohutta often. The wall down the middle of the store, which I believe they used to create office space on the other side, should be removed. The store’s open, yet cozy, environment was definitely impacted by adding the wall. It makes the store feel so much smaller, especially when crowd levels are high. Since they added the wall, the “general store” section was cut significantly. Therefore, I don’t really consider it a true general store anymore. I understand the reason for having such a small merchandise section is likely due to margins and the current economy causing people to purchase more food and necessities over merch. However, I hope they will re-expand their “store” section once again with more vintage sodas, a soda bar (fingers crossed), bulk candy, coffee grounds, jams, and other novelties. I would love for CGS to have the same foot traffic as general stores in other Georgia towns. Another addition that my family disagreed with was the addition of alcoholic beverages to the menu in an effort to compete with the white building across the street. We found it odd considering the focus on a family-friendly, Christian environment. Regardless of these suggestions, we love CGS and what they pour out into the great city of Cohutta! Go support this wonderful business!
