This place is a hidden gem! The ambiance is cozy as befitting its location, and the food is great. The wine selection is solid, as well. Carson Peak Inn does have some quirks that add to its charm. For example, there’s a basket of croutons just sitting on the table that just invites you to start noshing. However, the bowl of chopped scallions right next to it is slightly odd.
But in the end, you go to restaurants for food, and this place does not disappoint! The food here is simply delicious. The menu allows some flexibility in sampling different entrees, and for your first few times, I’d recommend that route. If your experience is like mine, you won’t be disappointed.

A quaint old world feeling dining establishment. Great cabin ambiance. Fairly good menu and wine list for a small out of the way resort. Highly recommended.

This was our first visit to the Carson Peak Inn, we didn’t know what to expect. It was delicious! Everything was really great! From the service, homemade croutons, garlic bread and the Classic ambience. We had the sirloin steak and it was cooked perfectly, seasoned deliciously, served with the best fried zucchini we have ever had, even the baked potato was so good! We also had the fried chicken which was crispy, flavorful and delicious! We will be back to try the Prime Rib!!!!

We have been coming to the Carson Peak Inn since 1980. It’s a throwback to a bygone era. The ambiance is old hunting lodge which I find relaxing and enjoyable. Linen Tablecloths, homemade bread and great service. They have a great menu, and a large portion menu also. I’ve had the steaks, pork chops and the ribs. I have never been disappointed in any of them. My wife loves the butterfly trout. The bake potato and salads are great. Just beer and wine, no hard liquor. Give them a try, they will make you feel like a visiting old friend for dinner.

My boyfriend has been talking about this place for 2 years. Last year they were closed for remodeling. This year we were in luck and they were open. My boyfriend had lobster and halibut—it was fabulous. I had the fritter battered prawns. Delicious! Really impressed with the homemade croutons, too. Service was spot on. Will return next year.

Other reviews said that this place had good food, so we stopped by hoping for a good meal. HORRIBLY RUDE service. Brunette waitress came out and said “We’re full so if you don’t have a reservation, we can’t take you. The other waitress might but I won’t.” I understand if you’re booked for the evening, sometimes you have to turn folks away, but this was unacceptable. Completely appalling and we will never even try to return thanks to her. Like another reviewer said, we were treated as an inconvenience. That’s how you lose customers.

It is what it is, an old-fashion steak house. Your steak is going to be very good and cooked to order. You can still get chicken livers or fresh fish, and the atmosphere is identical to when my parents went there in the late 1950’s. Only problem is, it was new then, now 60 years dated. Still a must when considering June Lake dining options.

Nice restaurant but the food could use more seasoning. Had to try it since I kept hearing about there steaks, sadly it didn’t live up to the hype. Waitress was very friendly thats pretty much why i gave it any stars.

We enjoyed a delicious Thanksgiving dinner with all the favorites. We took enough food home to enjoy sandwiches tomorrow. Our server was awesome. We are thankful to the Carson Peak for providing an excellent meal.

A very comfortable, rustic place with very comfortable horse shoe shaped banquettes. Mounted trophy fish on walls and fishing equipment. Food is pretty good, old style American white table cloth food. Steaks, various seafood, chicken, ribs, chops. Salads tossed at tableside. Very good, nice servers.
