Margherita pizza was great! Really liked the sauce and will get it again. It’s New Haven style so it’s thinner and has more char and less oily. From reading some of the other reviews I’m not sure people realize how charred and crispy New Haven style pizza typically is. This was actually less rigid than a Sally’s/Pepes pizza from New Haven which have super stiff thin crust almost like a pizza dough cracker. This was still thin crust but a bit more substantial like a typical pizza and not extremely crisp/rigid, maybe to help appeal to the masses more. Phoned in a take out order and it was ready on time. Card only.

Decided to give Eda’s a try on the way to pick up and was very impressed. The pies were clearly handmade and not bulk produced. The crust was very crispy even more than 30 minutes after I picked them up and got home. The sausage and broccoli rabe was unique and savory with a nice bitter/garlicky taste. The Margherita was amazing as well. We hadn’t had really high-end pizza in some time. Can’t wait to try more flavors.

Let me start by saying that I have been a fan since the beginning. I’ve been a customer since the first days opening. But my experience getting pizza here has progressively been getting worse. The quality of the cooking of the pizzas have been horrible. I’ve had multiple burnt pies, uneven cooking, and raw uncooked toppings. Tonight was the second time I’ve ordered a pie and had burnt areas and uneven cooking.

You absolutely cannot go wrong getting a pie from Eda’s. Cooked just right with the perfect amount of char every time. The crew is always friendly and attentive. I love this place.

Excellent New Haven style pizza. Crispy crust, great flavor in the dough and toppings. I took it to go but should’ve just ordered and eaten it there. The pizzas were gorgeous. Not a bad thing to say.

—EDIT—
Eda’s made up for the subpar pies they sold me. They have plenty of good reviews so don’t let mine scare you away from giving them a shot and making your own judgment. They are an honest business. I think you can rest assured that if they mess your order up, they’ll make it up to you.

I’ve been wanting to try this place for months. Finally decided to treat the family to pizza night.

Unfortunately this pizza was bad…..like very bad. I don’t think the pizza they gave me was representative of their normal quality, but that’s solely based on their Instagram posts and other people’s reviews.

Yes, I know what New Haven style pizza is. Yes, I know what well-done pizza is.

This was neither of those things.

I like a little char on my crust. I like bubbles. This was more than a char. We threw more than half of it away, which I never throw food away.

I spent $61 there and I regret every cent of it that wasn’t spent on the Hank’s Cream Sodas lol.

Again, I think it was an off-night for them, but I can’t give this place more than 1-star. I hope others have a better experience.

Top tier pizza place in 2025. Nostalgia. New Haven style, the space. It’s all a 10. I got the pep and a little more than half survived the car ride. I’ll be back to do something about the rest of the menu

I wanted to like Eda’s more than I did. I truly did. I tried while my family was in town and ordered 3 pies.

– [ ] New Haven tomato – because we had to try it
– [ ] One pep
– [ ] One sausage

They have heart and are trying to make a New Haven pie. It is just not there. There were some dark spots, but it was so limp and had a slight crispiness to it we all felt disappointed. And it was missing that distinctive char.

They don’t have coal-fired ovens, a prerequisite for a NH pie.

The next day, I heated it on 550 pizza steel, and it crisped up nicely. Maybe they rushed to get the pies out on a busy Friday night.

I wish they had a clam pie to try, and the guy said they are hoping to get one. There’s something about the original Frank Pepe’s ovens that can’t be replicated here in Philly.

Don’t get me wrong, it was a solid pie but maybe call it “New Haven” with the quotes to warn those who know what New Haven pizza is so they go in better armed.

For the area, I would go to a few other places first, Paulie Gees and Pizzeria Vetri, to name a few.

Eda’s does pizza right. The meatball-ricotta & potato rosemary are life changing. You don’t need to drive for hours to Connecticut for New Haven style pies. Best pizza in Philly!
