Good location, plenty of seats (indoor and outdoor), good for families (TVs, arcade games), lots of beer options with descriptions on menu, service was really good – our waitress was personable and food was served quickly. My only hesitation about this spot is the menu prices. My Chicago style dog was $11, regular beef. Sides were pricey too. I think with “good location” does come at cost. Probably will make a killing on game days

There are restaurants where you browse the menu. And there are restaurants where you order the name.

Dog Haus is not subtle about its identity. This is a temple to the dog. Sausages, brats, burgers, brews. But if you’re going to judge a place called Dog Haus, you judge it by the dog.

The Chili Idol Beef Dog is the reason to go.

A large, juicy all-beef wiener nestled in toasted King’s Hawaiian bread that actually matters. The bread isn’t filler. It’s structure. Slight sweetness, crisped edges, enough integrity to hold the weight of chili without surrendering.

And that chili. Savory, deep, not overly sweet, not watery. It clings instead of slides. Melted cheddar binding it together. Raw diced onions bringing brightness and crunch. Every bite balanced salt, fat, sweetness, and texture.

This is not a novelty hot dog. This is a composed dish.

The sweet potato fries arrived crisp-edged and caramelized, lightly seasoned, just enough contrast to reset between bites. Not greasy. Not limp. Respectable.

The corn dog slider was a bonus move. A tight, golden jacket around a juicy center. Slight sweetness, good fry, satisfying snap. A side character done well.

Was I still slightly hungry at the end? Yes. And that is not a complaint. It means the meal stopped at satisfaction instead of excess.

The Mango Cart lager poured bright and clean. Crisp, easy, refreshing. It supported the food instead of fighting it.

Total before tip landed in the high twenties. For quality, execution, and portion balance, that feels fair.

Would I go back?

Absolutely.

The Chili Idol lives up to the name. When the signature item delivers, the concept holds. Five stars.

Bone Appétit.

Update:
I have since returned to Dog Haus. I had a burger and fries, and they were significantly better. The Holy Aioli burger was top-notch. They’ve worked out a few kinks with the slow service and seem to be on top of things now. I still think it is on the pricier side for what it is. If they offered a combo or something similar for $15, I’d be all in. But $20+ before tip is just too much for what it is.

I’d give Dog Haus an updated score of 3.9/5.

Previous Review:
Went with a group of work friends to check out Dog Haus, Waco’s newest spot after a few delays opening. We were excited to see what they had to offer, but it was a mixed bag.

Value-wise, this is on the pricey side. Hot dogs run $9–$12, burgers and chicken sandwiches are closer to $15, and sides add up fast. Tater tots were $5 and enough for two people, so that’s probably their best value item.

Taste? The hot dogs were fine—better than store-bought—but nothing “elevated” or standout for the price. Condiments like generic mustard and ketchup felt like a missed opportunity to shine. Condiments should really stand out at a place like this. The “hot tots” were not crispy nor were they spicy. We wanted to try the mini corndogs, but the server said they were “out,” which makes me wonder if they aren’t made to order. Overall, I’d give the dogs a 6–7/10.

Service was friendly but slow—the servers use iPad systems to place orders and those always take a while no matter where you go.

Overall: 3.5/5. It wasn’t a bad experience, but at these prices you really need to wow. I might give it one more shot, but soggy tots and basic condiments aren’t helping. If you’re going to charge high prices for hot dogs, you have to nail the little things.

This place is a must try. Food and atmosphere is top tier. Lunch and Dinner are both great options. Noah took care of me for lunch. I sat on the porch side bar for a quick bite. His customer service was second to none. Offered amazing recommendations and checked in often to make sure I had a great experience.

Taylor was our server and he was extremely attentive. We ordered chili idol, a kids meal, the aoli burger and a cowboy. Plus fries and yam fries.
Every bite was delicious.

Sooo damn good. Been two times; the food is amazing. Came on a Monday mid-day and the guy at the bar could use some more experience. But Monday is probably a good day for someone to learn. Overall, very happy. I hope this place stays open. Dogs burgers and turning any dog into a burrito is crazy sick

First time here. My wife got a impossible brawat (vegetarian) and cheese fries. I got the chili dog with tots. My wife liked hers but the cheese fries didn’t have much cheese sauce on them. Mine tasted good, the chili is good, the dog was good, the sliced open Hawaiian rolls as a bun is a great idea, and it’s hard to make a bad tatertot. My biggest problem is the portion size. My chili dog cost $12. But it is so small I could have eaten 4 of them. My wife was also underwhelmed with the size of her veggie dog.

We had such an amazing time here! We are not from the area and it was our first time at a Dog Haus. But what really made the experience memorable was Nico our Bartender! Amazing and quick service! He was also friendly and easy to speak too. This young man is an asset to this business. Please praise him for us!
