I’ve been here a few times. It reminds me of Cambodia, even though it’s Vietnamese. Whenever I sit down to eat, it makes me forget that I’m in New Zealand. The staff are always eager to help, very approachable, and it really feels like they love being here.
I usually order their Banh Mì Roasted Beef Minced Meatball (Banh Mì Thịt Bò Viên) and the Hue Spicy Beef Noodle Soup (Bún Bò Huế), along with either an Egg Coffee (Cà Phê Trứng) or a Vietnamese Hot Black Coffee (Cà Phê Đen Nóng). And every time, I’m never disappointed. You might think this is a paid review, or that I’m a relative or a friend of the owners — but nah, I’m just some guy who enjoys food that reminds him of home. The photos attached to this review are foods that I also have tried.
It’s obviously not cheap (quite standard). Welcome to New Zealand, LMAO. But whenever I’m in the area, I always make sure to stop by and eat. So good, hehe.
Cảm ơn, HOI AN Cafe.
Keep up the great work, and never change!

Awesome Vietnamese eatery, food is fresh and big portions, reasonably priced. The outline of the menu were the vietnamese pancake with chicken and prawns, and the rice paper rolls. Highly recommended!

HOI AN consistently offers incredibly friendly service and genuinely delicious Vietnamese street food. I especially appreciate the dedicated vegan and vegetarian menu, making ordering easy. Portions are good, and the pricing is reasonable for the area.
My main feedback concerns the menu’s lack of English descriptions, which can be confusing (i had to google what i was ordering). More significantly, wait times have been consistently long (over 30-40 minutes on recent visits), often attributed to being understaffed. This has made it challenging to finish meals during a standard lunch break.
Recommendation: To avoid long waits, I strongly advise calling ahead to place your order at least 30 minutes in advance.
Overall, the quality of the food and the staff’s kindness are excellent. If the food preparation time could be reliably within 20 minutes, this would undoubtedly be a 5-star spot for me!

Beautiful authentic food! Holidayed in Hoi An earlier this year, and the lovely people in Hoi An Orewa serve up such delicious food which was so like what we had on our trip. The portion sizes are generous, the bubble teas and smoothies are yummy and overall it is good value for such good ingredients. Will be back

A brilliant surprise to find such an authentic Vietnamese restaurant in Orewa! The menu is diverse and makes you feel like you’re back in Vietnam. Some dishes have a unique twist that adds an interesting touch. Owner was so friendly and hospitable, and the location is great as well. Definitely recommend this place if you’re driving out to Orewa! We ordered takeaway, but will dine in next time

Absolutely incredible Vietnamese food! The portion sizes are generous, the prices are unbeatable, and the flavors are truly authentic—just like you’d find in Vietnam. The staff were warm, welcoming, and made our experience even better. Highly recommended to anyone looking for delicious, authentic Vietnamese cuisine. We’ll definitely be back!

We had an absolute FEAST here tonight. These guys know how to do serving sizes let me tell you. Most satisfying delicious and fresh meal I’ve had in a long time. An absolute angel of a waitress and chef as well. Very accommodating and sweet despite it just being the 2 of them went above and beyond for us. Please please support these guys. In my opinion the 1 star reviews were extremely harsh based on our experience.

We ordered the beef rib soup pho. Unfortunately we were very shocked with the taste of the soup – it’s very bland and taste like water. This was a big surprise for us as the restaurant looks very authentic. They also gave us raw and uncooked egg which we do not know and when we cracked the egg we were surprised.
Overall our biggest disappointment is the pho soup – it just simply tasted like water (as if they forgot to season or add salt to it). It pretty much ruin the whole meal.

The food was absolutely delicious! Each dish was flavorful and well-presented. The service was also top-notch – our server was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, making I feel right at home. I particularly appreciated the prompt service and the staff’s willingness to accommodate our requests. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience and I can’t wait to come back. I’ll definitely be recommending this place to friends and family. Great job to the entire team! The quality of food and service truly exceeded my expectations.

Great service, the owners are so friendly! What a lovely place, makes me feel like I’m back in Hoi An! Authentic Vietnamese food with signature street food dishes from Hoi An! Can’t find that anywhere. Their grilled beef noodle salad was so delicious! It comes with lots of veggies, toasted bread crumbs for extra crunch and fried rice paper spring roll! The sauce that went with it was seasoned well with flavours on point! Just the right amount of sweetness balancing the fish sauce. Did not spike my sugar level.
Their prawn and pork fresh spring rolls was a great deal. Full of fillings, the largest rolls I’ve seen. The pork belly banh mi with pork floss, the bread was toasted to perfection, full of flavour, loaded with veggies, the pork floss was an amazing addition! Best rolls we’ve had.
Their prawn fried rice was a hit for my fussy teenager. Good sized prawns, fried egg on top and lots of veggies!
Tui and her team are so friendly and welcoming. Keeping food authentic with quality meat and veggies!
Their sugar cane drink and coconut cafe coffee drink was delicious! Kids were happy with their bubble drinks.
I will be definitely going back to try their Hoi An grilled meat on lemongrass, steamed rice dishes from Hue.
Thank you for your hospitality and delicious food! I would highly recommend!
